Who cares? He has the authority to do so. If he is re-elected then he has absolute right to make such decision whenever he sees fit.
You are being dishonest. I remember having worries about Trump causing economy melt down. That was when progressive mass media still had control over what I know and believe, which resulted in me voting for Hillary.
I too remember the market being concerned about an incompetent, unpredictable rube becoming prez. What I don't remember is anyone saying there'd be........"endless worldwide economic depression." Do you?
That's somewhat in doubt as Fauci has some protections as a 50 year employee of the government. Why do you fall back on defending Trump along the lines of what his authority allows and not what is justified?
"Fauci, who has been a government employee for over 50 years, has employment protections — Trump can’t fire him directly. But on October 21, Trump issued an executive order, as Politico’s Dan Diamond pointed out, that chip away at those protections. The order details that the administration and its agencies need to be able to weed out “poorly performing employees.” “Agencies need the flexibility to expeditiously remove poorly performing employees from these positions without facing extensive delays or litigation,” the executive order reads. Beyond this new order, Trump could direct a political appointee to terminate Fauci, who is currently the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Fauci’s immediate supervisor, National Institutes of Health director Dr. Francis Collins, has said he would be against firing Fauci." https://www.vox.com/21545631/trump-fire-fauci-2020-election IOW, Trump wants the flexibility to fire anyone who exposes his dangerous idiocy.
There is NO BASIS to fire him other than Trump's fragile ego and as a stupid ploy to boost his lagging performance.
Fauci is both a doctor and a denizen of the swamp. His problem is that he hasn't stuck to medicine and has gotten involved in public policy publicly. He is in the wrong job for that. I would support shutting down the NIH. Let them go to work for the UN. That would be a more suitable place for them.
Boiled down to its essence, Trump is considering firing Fauci (who knows how seriously since Don changes his mind almost as much as he lies) because the angry mob suggested it..........and because Fauci has humiliated Trump on more than one occasion.
I remember discussing it with you back then. At that point I was still giving him the benefit of the doubt. I’ll admit I was even “appealing to his authority” and that’s rare for me. Looking back on his poor performance I no longer respect his expertise at face value. He made some unforgivable mistakes. I’m mad at myself for not catching his mistakes sooner and I’m not an infectious disease expert. The most significant one in my opinion was his assumption early on that SARS-CoV-2 would not be spread by pre and asymptomatic individuals. Volumes of information exist on how in varying degrees pre and asymptomatic spread occurs in most all respiratory viral diseases. Now as a scientist alone, it’s understandable to not jump to conclusions. But as a doctor in charge of mitigating a pandemic caused by a lethal pathogen, you can’t ignore existing evidence predicting such spread. You have to base mitigation policy on the possibility (likelihood) that pre and asymptomatic spread will be a factor. I don’t hate the man. Maybe he’s the best we have. But if I was in his shoes I’d feel like resigning.
SPOT ON, Lee Almost hard to believe that so many people in this country actually support the republican assh*le. China cranks out 600,000 engineers and computer scientists every year ... we have a bunch of fat right-wing hicks driving pickup trucks and trollin' buses on texas interstates...
You are not the first Trumpette who has expressed a preference for entertainment over responsible governance.
