What do you think the CDC is hiding. Who would you consider to be “ordinary scientists”?

Is the Earth round? - NOAA's National Ocean Service

Nov 5, 2020 — The Earth is an irregularly shaped ellipsoid. While the Earth appears to be round when viewed from the vantage point of space, it is actually closer to an ellipsoid.

The Flat Earth Society... I haven't decided if they really believe it or just being contrarians for the hell of it.

Maybe you can try hard enough and show where the virus was isolated, purified and sequenced.

Also, frankly @Eleuthera , it is clear you did not review my link at all. You say it only mentions isolation of the virus in animals. That is, flatly, false. It links to research showing the virus isolated in humans.

    Examples:

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7045880/
    https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/26/6/20-0516_article

These examples appear within the first 4 sentences of the article I linked to. Please don't pretend to have read articles when you obviously haven't made it even 4 sentences in.

    It's trolling.

They say stuff like, "You can find flat earthers all around the globe."

The virus has been isolated and sequenced many times. Links have been provided. Would you like evidence that the earth isn't flat as well? We could start a thread for it.

I've also seen them allude to the Principia Discordia, which is some really interesting trolling.

The virus samples will typically be extracted from human patients and then cultured in the lab. Viruses can't grow on their own, they need other cells to reproduce, so some kind of biological medium is used. Animal tissue will be easier and cheaper to source than human tissue and so that is what is used. This is long established standard practice, nothing special in relation to COVID research.

I'm happy to see you acknowledging that the virus has indeed been isolated from human patients though.

Nothing is hidden. The virus has been sequenced 1000s of times, in many countries. We even know new mutations. It is all in publicly accessible databases:

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sars-cov-2/

BTW: Who is "they", admitting that covid doesn't exist? It seems the only one making stuff up here is you.

Yes, whenever someone gets a positive covid test, virus nucleic acids are isolated and amplified from human patients. The OP is full of B$.

I was reading up on it a little bit and some sources claim they have isolated the virus. It is so hard to suss out the truth when there is so much misinformation out there. I have to admit, the implications are mind-blowing.

It has been isolated. Several times. You are encouraging the misinformation for the sake of fake, conspiratorial "implications."

Wow. Did you have to come off like that? I already stated that I believe the virus is real. My cousin dropped dead two days ago after trying to fight off COVID and I have three other family members in the ICU trying to survive it.

If you are going to lend credence to these unhinged conspiracy theories, yes. I have no choice but to "come off like that." Not if I'm going to show any kind of respect for facts and human lives. My family is at risk as well. Some have been infected. Some still have their lives at risk. It isn't okay to entertain unhinged, unfounded conspiracy theories that are putting lives at risk.

The virus has been isolated. Several times. I've provided evidence. You may be okay with the conspiracy theories that have directly affected your family's health. I am not.

Again, I am not entertaining any conspiracy theories. I commented that it's hard to know the truth because there is so much information and misinformation out there. And, there is! Personally, I would love for the virus to be a hoax, but my life experiences prove that it's not.

Is it "hard to know the truth" about whether or not the virus exists? If you answer yes, my statement still stands. If you answer no, your response to the OP makes no sense.

It was a simple question directly related to the OP and your reaction to it.

You aren't paying attention. I've already stated MORE THAN ONCE that I don't believe the virus is a hoax. However, I believe there are people that believe it is. I also don't believe that Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary or the Earth is flat but believe there are people out there that believe in those myths.

Like it or not, the OP has a right to his/her opinion. I don't have to agree with it. You don't have to agree with it. Further, it's also not necessary to jump on other posters because you don't like the way they've stated something. I've never disrespected you and would appreciate the same courtesy.

Dangerous, fact-free opinions deserve to be criticized. If you think that dangerous, fact-free opinions are more worthy of respect than the opinion that they should be criticized, then I can't help you.

So, in your world, it's okay for your opinion to have more weight than someone else's opinion? This isn't the first time the OP has commented on the virus being a hoax. I don't have to agree with that opinion but can believe in his/her right to state it. In your world, people you disagree with should be censored. It doesn't work that way.

When the facts are on my side, yes. That's what facts and evidence are for. No one is stupid enough to think that all opinions are equal. No one. If they say that's what they believe, then they are lying, not to mention being self-contradictory. If all opinions are equally valid, then the opinion that all opinions are NOT equally valid would be as equally valid as the opinion that they ARE. That makes no ******n sense.

The opinion of those who say that the earth is flat does not have more weight than the opinion of those who deny this. The other side has more weight. Because evidence.
The opinion of those who say that we did not land on the moon does not have more weight than the opinion of those who say we did. The other side has more weight. Because evidence.
The opinion of those who say that the Holocaust did not happen does not have more weight than the opinion of those who say that it did. The other side has more weight. Because evidence.

Please tell me you understand it.

Now you are just making **** up. I never said he had no right to state his opinion. I said he was wrong and took him to task for it. If you are going to feign interest in an honest discussion, never make up **** like that again. I never said he had no right to spread his unhinged conspiracy theories; I simply pointed out that they are unhinged conspiracy theories and explained why.
