Senate evacuated, National Guard activated, person shot after pro-Trump protesters storm Capitol

From what I can see on TV some police forces are taking action.
My guess is that the counting of the electoral votes will occur regularly tomorrow.

Honestly I expected that the US Congress was better defended, but may be it's all about granting freedom of expression ... even if I think there is a misunderstanding about that "expression" ...

 

Today can be described as an attempted coup and attack on US democracy by right-wing extremists idiots. And when I listen to those idiots of Republican politicians on Fox News who play it all down, my fist suddenly has a certain need to visit their faces!

It's not like this was unexpected ... we remember those Nazis who call themselves Proud Boys and all the other right-wing militias with their statements before election? What statements could be heard from the camp before the election again, eh? Well ... And unfortunately this scrap in a country contaminated with weapons is still armed like insurgents in a war zone ... all with reference to the constitution, precisely the constitution that was massively attacked today by this scum now!

If Trump doesn't officially admit his defeat today ... which is not even close to assuming ... then this bitter old man and Master of Fake News and lies belongs to jail!

Absolutely spot on. Until today ,I thought trump supporters just got caught in Trumps lies and conspiracy theories and would regain some semblance of realty. Today has shown them to be as fanatical as any terrorist group. This is a sick situate that has developed by choice more fitting of a banana Republic. News Update: The lady who was shot.........has now died. And all because of this chaos.

 

I don't know why there wasn't more security to meet the threat. We all know what the MAGA crowd is capable of. We have known for a long time that these people are nothing more than a terrorist organization.

Remember when the MEGA crowd stormed the capital in Michigan? They were just rehearsing for today's show. I remember the time I was driving through DC when I ran into a big traffic jam. A guy came walking down the line of cars saying thatterrorists had taken every Republican senator hostage, and if they didn't get 30 million dollars they were going to douse them with gasoline and set them on fire. Seems that Pence is running things.......... ie dong the heavy lifting of dealing with this crisis while Trump continues his psych meltdown.

 

Some of the MSNBC personalities have suggested that the fix was in. I don't know. A former Congresswoman said she didn't think the Capitol police were used to people not being compliant with their requests. Maybe it was a combination. With all the recent National Security personnel changes, it's not farfetched to think the response was not as stoutly prepared as it would have, had it been a different group of protesters. But there are too many, at too many levels, with differing spheres of influence over the response, for me to even want to speculate, at this point.

I really replied to update, & correct, my post on the woman killed in the Capitol today. According to another thread's link, she was one of the Capitol's invaders, & the bullet came from law enforcement.
