Ridiculous. If you expend the ammo do you need to unregister it? Politicians are good at passing laws about things they know nothing about or even bother to understand.

 

But if it fits the gun then it is registered? They pass laws without even understanding the issues.

 

So you have to carry the ammo in a box? That will certainly make the ammo useful. But no, they don't have numbers. In my case, I make my own ammo so there aren't any boxes.

First of all, I'm not a "Trumpist" and secondly, you must know very little about ammunition if you think that you could engrave or stamp different serial numbers on the trillions of rounds of ammunition that are made each year around the globe.

Would you engrave / stamp this serial number that would run into the trillions on both the brass casing and the slug?

What about the millions of Americans who give or trade ammunition to/with each other each month?

Additionally, stamping or engraving a serial number on the case would weaken it and cause it to split or rupture.

Finally, attempting to put serial numbers on each round of ammunition manufactured is as impractical as it would be costly.

 

I disagree with none of this. However, it could be done.

I'm not a Trumpist, but it is hard to take many of the COVID restrictions seriously when they haven't really helped much, and when the same people passing edicts are caught violating them.
