Y’all can go the same place y’all told us to go for four years. Or we can ignore you...
Either way works for me :)

    He tried to.

And the whole time he was talking the gap between the GOP and the Trump mob got a little bit wider.

Well., the Democratic party is hardly in disarray. They control both houses of Congress, and are led by a popular President who is already delivering.

The GOP is stuck where it has been mired over the last fifty years.

The GOP could not win a national election without the uneasy alliance between the business and oil interests that are the GOP, and the reactionary right wing mob.

TRump played to the prejudices, fear and ignorance of that mob. He created a cult of personality for it to adore.

Now he’s gone, and there is nothing left.

    Trump won’t run in 2024.

He was never intrested in actually doing the job in the first place.

But if he can slake his endless thirst for attention by diddling his mob, he will.

He left the mob hanging on January 6th.

It’s very clear that many of his disciples want to go back to their fawning worship. Either that, or they’re primed for the next wannabe fuhrer.

Its hilarious to see all these lefties praising Mitch. The same guy they used to call "moscow mitch". I do believe they actually are in awe of Mitch. Here's a man who isn't afraid to call out bad behavior in his party (un-impeachable but still bad nonetheless). You will NEVER see the left doing this to their own. Congrats democrats, you've just been exposed to a concept you guys never heard of before

Indeed. But that assumes a loyal opposition and not a seditious mob of insurrectionists, secessionists and white supremacists who reject science and prefer to worship a man rather than respect the rule of law.
I think it would be ultimately good for the repub party to break off from the trump cult. It is a cancer on the country.
That would instantly render them impotent and voters could go back to choosing the best persons for the job.
I suspect that patriotic democrats, republicans and independents would gladly choose the best candidate for the job, regardless of party affiliation. It used to be that way before the right wing movement polarized politics with their divisive and selfish agenda.

    what do I think?

who gives a rats behind. If you and your fellow Democrat voters think whacking Trump for the next 4 years is a good strategy, you are sadly mistaken. Democrat politicians will again drive up energy prices, drive up unemployment and probably get us into yet another war.

It's what Democrats do and Democrat voters refuse to see it because ABC et al tells you that Democrats are compassionate

Democrats have been the the party of hate for far too long (slavery, anti-civil rights, anti-suffrage, internment camps, leper colonies) and maybe it's time to be Americans

The republicans did great in down ballot offices on election day considering they lost the presidential election by 7 plus million votes. The GOP picked up 13 house seats, 2 state legislatures and a governorship. It wasn't until the Georgia runoff in January did the democrats finally win in the senate. I blame both those loses here in Georgia on Trump. He lost them, not McConnell.

One would think those run off elections in GA would be a sign for Republicans. Trump's ego and his penchant for conspiracies to excuse his failings will not help in the long run.

If you are right then our Republican Party ( the honest good wing) would need to regain control of the party for the good of the country. It would be better for our Democratic friends to have a sane honest rational Republican Party as opposition and not as "the enemy".

It wasn't. Folks, especially independents just tired of Trump's childish antics like name calling and throwing temper tantrums like a spoiled four year old brat along with his 3rd grade schoolyard bullying tactics. Trump won independents in 2016 by 4 points and thus the White House. He lost independents by 13 points to Biden in 2020. That a swing of 17 points. There were quite a lot of ticket splitters voting for Biden for president, then Republican down ballot.

I'd say the 2020 election was a rejection of Trump, especially by independents. But it wasn't a rejection of Republicans down ballot. At least in November. One fails to remember on election day, Nov 2020, Republican Perdue beat Ossoff, but failed to secure the 50% plus one vote. In any other state Perdue would have won reelection as they don't have Georgia's runoff law. Then in January after months of rigged election talk by Trump, that their vote wouldn't be counted, both Democrats won by a very slim margin.

In this case, I'd say two plus two equals four, Trump lost the two seats.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

Nobody is "in aww" of Mitch. Mitch is doing what is politically expedient for himself, and his faction of the party.

Mitch picked a faction, and then announced it for all to see when he voted. This is the beginning of the of the multi-faction, disjointed, who's in charge we dont know, republican party. And Donald Trump is more than willing to destroy those factions that are not lead by their devotion to him. This is going to get real interesting in the next few months

    Thanks again Nancy ;)

McConnell has fought Trump-like conservative senatorial candidates for a decade, and he fought Trump behind the scenes because he feared Trump's draining of the swamp. McConnell and his family have probably gotten more money from the Chinese by climbing into their bed than the Bidens have.

The GOP is in a dreadful position. Most cons want Trump to remain a prominent part of the party, but Trump's now a losing proposition. The party knows it needs to drop Trump, but the base disagrees and resents the GOP almost as much as the Dems.

The GOP will return to power because major parties always do, but I don't know how they are going to do it.

Too bad that the Georgia runoff wasn't Jan 7 or 8 because that may have affected the runoffs even stronger.

But I don't think it's going to serve the GOP well in the long run....especially with Dump still getting his ring kissed and running around looking for a public mic! Hopefully, the NY courts and the IRS wil have a say in this.

Trump’s base will line up behind his rhetoric and start spreading that message because, y’know, they are not sheep!

McConnell will fail, not because of what Trump says, but because McConnell’s not really about picking winners (or if he is, he’s really bad at it if he’s track record says anything). He’s about picking loyalists to him. He’s about holding onto power for himself.
