As black person, I agree with you but that is because many of us don't know which country our ancestors are from. I have a couple of extended family members who used Ancestry.com to get more information about where their ancestors originated. I'm not surprised that their DNA test revealed mostly African but also European (British) origins, due to the slave trade.

if you can't agree that judge was acting racist, not sure what else to say

all sides need to call out all racism regardless the race of the racist, this is common sense folks.. all racism is bad, not sure why we are disagreeing on this

I posted a link to the victim telling the judge he would not participate in this case, that he would have to do it without him - so yes, it's true what I said

I would disagree, Obama looks black, so his black genes gave him his skin color

it would be like saying your not blue-eyed, cause your mom had a different color eyes

but it does mean he has white people genes as do his children and will their children and so on

most Americans have a mix of genes, most racist (black or white) would have to hate themselves if they got a dna test

Obama was our first Black President, America should be proud of that, quite a feat for a country that started off with slavery, we have come a long way

Apparently not everyone is thrilled with the dismissal:

The one drop rule, his appearance and his cultural identification come into play. Just about all African-Americans have some white ancestry and still identify as black. For all of these reasons, he is recognized as the first black President.

Guess which one denied the other for hundreds of years?

Is there any wonder why blacks revel in racial identity when they have been denied full access to the national identity since the inception of this country? You cant treat an entire race like crap for a few hundred years and then expect things to go back to peachy keen with nothing more than an "oh, my bad."

that would not be smart of her, she would only be making it worse on herself

her best bet is to go quietly into the night, try to be a good person and hope with time people forget or at the very least see she has changed

Its my understanding that ppl mistake "african americans" as being from ibo since one of the main ports used in the TAST was ibo land. Yet we also know that the slavers would acquire their captives from other lands and bring them to the ports. Which would mean that they most likely wouldnt have been ibo but other nations, particularly ones controlled by portuguese empire as these domains were ones where slavery was lucrative due to portuguese currency. Angola for example and also Guinea, where local princes were in trade partnerships with portuguese merchants.

I watched the documentary about them about a year ago. That’s the only reason I even thought of them as an example. I really can’t believe I mixed up those nations.

And I had been doing so well that day, too.

I think what’s happening in the east is quite fascinating. I’m curious to see how the East African Federation will hold up. I’m glad to see people starting to work together.

I’m really got my eye on Ethiopia right now. They’re on the verge of a major power shift.

Obama wasnt the first black president despite how you “feel” about it. He very much was half white.

Facts trump your feelings. If he checked black on the census, he's counted as African-American by the Census Bureau. He gets to determine how he is classified and identified and he considers himself to be black. So does the media and our society. Race is a social construct, not strictly a biological one. So, he's black.

It doesn't amtter who they count as black. That doesn't make it true.

From an objective standpoint, he was half white. He isn't the first black president.

Thats not a good or bad thing, it just is.

    No, it wouldnt be.
