Apart from liking the number 13, ;-) it just might be a good idea. I am still considering the pros and cons........

I would have thought the blood of 360,222 men who died in their cause would have counted for something. Also the suffering caused by the deaths of 258,000 sons of the South might offer some atonement.

Most civilized countries just passed legislation to end slavery - our Civil War was just a case of
White men being stupid - don't think that was an act that really "atones" for much.

All those young men had families and the descendants of those families are who are now being told they owe further atonement for a sin most people, even then, didn't commit.

The "sin" wasn't the action of individuals - it was because slavery was codified as LAW by THE GOVERNMENT.

Citizens have been suing the Government (Federal and State) for decades over laws that were deemed injurious to
themselves or their families. It's hardly a new concept.

And it got itself uncodified in a nightmare of a war in which the death total is much smaller than the lost leg/arm, etc count.

Increasing the numbers of justices is foolish. Due to the favorable dynamics of the US Senate, the Rs will be the majority party more often then not and increasing the number of justices will just cause a 10-3 or 11-2 Republican majority in a decade. Once the Rs again wrest control, they will simply reduce the number. The proper action would be to somehow convince Manchin to support the elimination of the filibuster and admit DC and Puerto Rico as the 51st and 52nd states. Those four extra D senators will enable the Ds to control the US Senate more often.

Americans give Biden mostly positive marks for first 100 days, Post-ABC poll finds

    http://www.politicalforum.com/index.php?threads/biden-admin-first-year-in-office.587067/

A totally different tone, addressing the serious issues in a professional and serious manner.........and without the drama, sensationalism or attention seeking behavior that had become so toxic. Nice to have professional in office. No one is perfect...... we can find fault in all leaders........ but over all he is doing a good job, is focused (not all over the map) in very challenging times.

yep, they say black people prefer menthol, so the racist thing to do would be to ban what they feel black people prefer would it not? so is Biden a Racist?

"Biden administration expected to announce plan to ban menthol cigarettes"

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2021/04/28/ban-on-menthol-cigarettes/

"The Biden administration is expected to announce this week that it will propose a ban on menthol cigarettes, an action urgently sought by tobacco opponents and civil rights groups that say African Americans have been disproportionately hurt by the industry’s aggressive targeting of Black communities."

I don't see it as a racist thing. It is a health thing.

nope, it's a racist thing, why not ban all cigarettes then... why only ban the ones black people prefer?

until a non-smoker steals the longest living person title from smokers, they have no room to ban anything

this is a free country, don't want to smoke... don't

smoking relieves stress and some need that stress relief as stress kills too
