A private school with two campuses in Miami has warned its staff against taking vaccines that prevent COVID-19, saying it will not employ anyone who has been inoculated and spreading misinformation about the potential risks of vaccination.

Leila Centner, who co-founded the school with husband David Centner, warned that vaccinated persons “may be transmitting something from their bodies” that could harm others, particularly the “reproductive systems, fertility, and normal growth and development in women and children.”

“It gives the illusion that she’s basing it on facts,” Marty said of the letter, “but there’s not one citation, there’s not one physician or scientist whose name is spelled out in there. There’s no references. There’s nothing. There is no scientific evidence provided. Rumor is the only thing that’s there, and if you look at the reality, there’s zero, zero science behind those allegations.”

I mean... I'm not even sure I have a well formulated response to this ignorance yet, so I leave it to my forum friends to condemn this thinking...

Why doesn't stupid stuff like this ever happen where I live, so I can pull my kid out of the school and go talk to the press?? Oh, that's right... I don't live in Florida...

Is this legal, since it's a private school?? I imagine somebody's going to file a suit or two over this one...

As is their right. I hope all those whining about places that are talking about requiring the vaccine are just as up in arms about this place....but I will not be holding my breath

My perosanl opinion of the rule is that it is ****ing stupid and I would hope anyone with any sense at all would not want to work in such a backwards place.

One can only image what they teach in science class

It sounds dumb. If you are elderly, have at risk factors, etc. then the vaccine is a valid choice. I just don't want people punishing those that do not get it, but they are doing that too... so I guess this is the pendulum.

My favorite Italian Restaurant (Basillicos in Huntington Beach) allows no patrons with masks and has been open throughout the pandemic. The county has went after their business, liquor, and ever other license and regulation they can to shut them down, but has failed. It's their right and no law has been passed that shuts them down... so they are in the F Off crowd.

Was just thinking the same thing.... what kind of science "teachers" are you hoping to employ at a place that denies employment based on rumors about science??

Oh, well, I suppose they can avoid that trap by skipping that pesky science topic all together...

This place probably makes Dayton Tennessee 1925 look like MIT....

It should be just as legal for a private business to require no vaccination as it is for a private business to require vaccination. It would be illegal for a public entity to do this, just as it should be (and probably is) illegal for a public entity to inversely require vaccines.

And, of course, I always agree with boycotting businesses that act contrary to your values. Pulling your kids from this school and going to the press is precisely how everyone should be responding to business practices they don't like, instead of trying to compulse conformity via the violent authority of the state.

I'm semi curious how a restaurant would enforce "allows no patrons with masks", but not enough to ask...

As much as I bad mouth Florida, I'm not sure California ranks much higher in my book...

I've said before, great place to visit, but I couldn't envision living there (although being able to dine outside (Pre-COVID) on XMAS eve was a great treat)

If I worked for a place with owners as stupid as these two, I wouldn't mind losing my employment there because I wouldn't want to work for bosses who think that vaccinated people transmit "something" to unvaccinated people who then will affect their reproductive organs. Jesus.

The thing is, as per the famous definition, conspiracy theories are what dumb people use in order to feel smart. That certainly applies to these two idiotic private school owners. I'd say to all these teachers; good riddance regarding this job, go find another job with bosses who aren't complete idiots. Easier said than done in this economy, but still...

They probably struggle with low enrollment and, therefore, paying the bills. The solution: A dog whistle to the anti-vaxxers, who will take this as an opportunity to get their children out of public school "hellholes" and into a school, where they learn some "real" stuff, like anti science.

I don't really agree with them on this, but when it comes to the china virus, what FACTS do we actually know? The first FACT was that it wasn't transmittable human to human.

The employer is not dictating their medical care, they are saying if you wish to work here you cannot do xxxx. Nobody has a right to an certain job and if you do not like the rules, you move on.

My wife is required to get a flu shot every year as part of her employment. She can either comply or find a new job

Apparently. Hospitals have been requiring the staff be vaccinated for some time. Precedent set and inverse achieved.

Though I do wonder how the school intends to enforce this policy... how will they know who has been vaccinated?

The FACT is that, at this time, there is no evidence of a vaccinated adult being able to "transmit something from their body" that could harm the "reproductive systems of women and children".

I'm pretty sure it's also impossible to grow gills or extra toes from the vaccine, at this time.... I'm sure Mrs. Centner will let us all know when some crackpot website claims otherwise...

How will they know if someone gets it? You can’t prove you didn’t get a shot lol

Requiring a vaccine makes sense, requiring you don’t do something that they won’t know about, is odd.

Good point. There is no way of knowing. Same with requiring vaccinations. I have a Walgreens sticker that says "Vaccinated" in case its required!

True, that also makes it a stupid rule. But I guess if you work there you cannot brag on FB about getting your shot

Providing proof of a vaccination is simple.

When you receive a medical shot there is a record kept of who received the shot, and you receiving it have had to show them proof of identity and billing address.

But that information is confidential unless you willingly release it, the school has no way of accessing that information

As long as they don’t take a cent of government money I support them trying to make the gene pool more intelligent by refusing to vaccinate.

It would take a special caliber of “teacher” to want to educate the youth that go there — That said, how would they know?

I get the feeling this Centner pair could be convinced spider man is real and was bitten by a special spider.
