How We Can Absolutely KNOW Absolutely That We Are Saved: By JAG (written for my grand grandchildren ~ May 17, 2021) All we Christians need to have the assurance of our salvation. A large number of we Christians, in the past at times, have struggled against doubt. The problem is this: Sometimes we feel like we're saved and sometimes we feel like maybe we're not saved ~ or at least we have some doubts that enter our minds. The solution to this problem is to never trust your feelings on this issue because your feelings will change with the wind. Your feelings will go from high's to low's based on the changing winds of circumstances. Instead of trusting in your feelings on this issue, put all your trust in God's Word which never changes and God has said clearly and specifically that we can KNOW for certain that we are saved. And God does not tell lies. He always tells the truth. So? So "have faith in God" and KNOW that you are saved. ("Have faith in God"__The Lord Jesus in Mark 11:22) ■ "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may KNOW that you have eternal life." 1 John 5:13 "SO THAT YOU MAY KNOW YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE" ■ "My sheep listen to my voice. I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who gave them to me is greater that all, and no one can snatch them out of My Father's hand." John 10:27-28 "THEY SHALL NEVER PERISH" ■ "We KNOW that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other." 1 John 3:14 "WE KNOW THAT WE HAVE PASED FROM DEATH TO LIFE" ■ "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 "SHALL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE." ■ "Very truly I tell you, whoever obeys My word will never see death" {that is, spiritual death ~ being lost} John 8:51 "WILL NEVER SEE DEATH" ■ "Very truly I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life." John 5:24 "WILL NOT BE JUDGED BUT HAS CROSSED OVER FROM DEATH TO LIFE" ■ "Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die, and whoever lives by believing in Me will never die." John 11:25-26 "WILL LIVE, EVEN THOUGH THEY DIE . . . WILL NEVER DIE" ■ "If we confess our sins He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9 "WILL FORGIVE US OUR SINS" ■ "For I am convinced that neither death not life, neither angles or demons, neither the present or the future, nor any powers, neither height or depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39 {NOTHING IN THE UNIVERSE CAN) "SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF GOD" So if you ever have any doubts that you are saved, immediately read those Bible verses up there and KNOW that you are saved. If Satan ever tries to convince you that you are not saved, read those Bible verses up there and KNOW that you are saved. God Bless. Granddaddy []
I don't see anything in your post that guarantee's salvation .. and why on earth would you use Romans - writings from a fellow who ever knew Jesus. The rest of your support all comes from John - a Pauline Hellenistic fusion work which is trying to reconcile a Jewish Jesus with a non Jewish - Pauline Church. - and some of your quotes from John do not address the issue ? You make no mention of the famous sermon in which Jesus addresses this topic directly - Sermon on the Mount - so lets compare the two. Matt 7 Clearly these two passages are at odds with each other - which is what prompted the faith vs works debate which has the Church split - Catholic-Orthodox being on one side .. Protestantism on the other. "The central theology doctrine of Christianity today teaches a salvation by faith through grace, by believing that Jesus died on the cross for your sins and rose from the grave. This doctrine is central and fundamental to the Christian Gospel. However, this form of salvation is NOT taught in Matthew, Mark and Luke, which are the oldest of the Gospels" one other thing to note in the passage from John 5 above is that one is to believe in the one that sent Jesus - not Jesus himself. So how do we resolve this conflict - something the Church has not manage to do in 600 years ?
My question regarding the OP -- saved from what exactly? From death? Do Christians think there is some analog to your brain being maintained in some supernatural place awaiting a transfer of consciousness at the moment of death? Seems like a childish belief system intended to deny the reality that we are all going to die.
It is interesting how much that modern day Evangelical Christianity strays from Judaism. The idea of an eternal life was never a part of Judaism nor was the idea of an atoning sacrifice to cleanse one's sins. Jew's were taught to follow Jewish commandments and that they would be rewarded in the present life. When Christianity developed it was thought that Gentiles would not be able to adhere to Jewish laws, so the idea of an atoning sacrifice was meant to be a substitute for following Jewish laws. However, a select number of Christians would be chosen to be resurrected on earth when Christ returned or the Son of Man came down from the clouds. A Kingdom of God would be established on Earth and a very small number of Christians would be rewarded, with everyone else punished after being resurrected. When Jesus never returned, the idea changed from a dead body awaiting resurrection to one going immediately to heaven, hell, or possibly purgatory. It is also interesting to note that the Gospel of John is the only Gospel that most Christians seem to care about anymore. It is the one that elevates Jesus to God and the one where faith is all that matters. Today, getting saved is all that seems to matter for Evangelicals.
I would like to throw a rather intriguing idea at you JAG....... that Zechariah 14 could mean that the Bride of Messiah is divided between those who are certain of their salvation........ ..... and another group who are in doubt of their salvation? So what I mean by this is that as of today... May 21, 2021 the Bride of Messiah the Church plus Holy Spirit led Jews who do not yet know Jesus as Messiah but are led by Jesus much like King Cyrus of Isaiah chapter forty five....... are divided over whether or not they would go to heaven if they were killed in an accident this afternoon? https://www.blueletterbible.org/kjv/zec/14/1/s_925001 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
