We are also behind on the Stage Coach form of transport.
Do not think because the Japanese or Koreans or even China does it, it is best.
China can tightly control costs. China owns the land. So it builds where it wants to build.

I spent time studying Amtrak and a few things came to mind.
1. Amtrak is not as wide spread as some imagine.
2. It is not a cheap form of Transport.
3. It may go 70 miles per hour but airplanes go 550 mph.

 

When I want to go slow, I will fly a Piper thank you. Which flies at close to 200 mph.

For some ungodly reason you want a slow form of Transport to be paid for by everybody.
This is the truth on Rail.
A few Americans will ride rail. They may want to go slow. Even 100 mph is slow compared to Airplanes.
Those few will pay the high price of rail. They may even like paying to park their car.
It is not that the Airplane ticket is cheap, it is that the Airplane is modern and safe and fast.

Infrastructure is one of my interests. Why this is so will be explained. At one time, early in my life, I earned my living in heavy construction. I worked for example on the BART so called rapid transit. How fast is BART. It hits top speeds of in the area of 70 mph.

Cars on CA roads go that fast.
CARs also will take you up and down all roads. BART or Rail has paths. And if you have ever got off of BART and walked a mile down the road, while the exercise is wonderful, in the car you would have long been at your destination.

RAIL transit in America has been rejected by the Voters.

Biden trying to force us onto RAILS is like his other pipe dreams. When he stopped the Keystone pipeline, not paid for by Government, he went after you and me. We all use petroleum. Biden does not give a ****.
Biden wants electric busses even if you are happy with your modern bus that carries you.
He is Herr Dictator.

yep, as I said a national embarrassment. The rest of the world is a half a century ahead of us.

 

FOLKs, America is vast. Europe to show you what it is, is more like our collection of states.
Europe was laid out centuries ago. In Germany and Holland, where I am more familiar, is pretty flat land. Take your modern Jet Airplane. Would you like your runways going up and down hills?

Trains to stay level consume more land. Take mountains. They will have to follow curved tracks.

Airplanes can fly in straight lines. And Jet Airplanes are far faster than Trains. Ticket prices by air are reasonable. And Airplanes do not derail and go off tracks. Rail in America is not cheap. Europe has systems like Parliamentary. Europe citizens also are willing to live different lives. Do you want to live like they live in France?

When I was in Germany men peed in streets and in alleys. I realize this happens in Democrats cities, but my god, is that what you really want? To follow Europe like you are in love with them?

High speed rails make sense in Japan, with a certain population density.

I ride a train from Dallas to Houston and get off the train - I still need some sort of transportation to go the 10 miles it is to the nearest point of interest. Our cities are more sprawling than those in Europe or Japan, which folks that argue like you never take into account.

I've been to England five or six times. It's great. You can hop around the city at will with the tubes. It's not like that here.
