    More secure than what?

    ..
This election cycle was the most secure ever, despite a surge in mail-invoting prompted by the coronavirus pandemic.

A joint statement issued on Thursday by the Elections Infrastructure Government Coordinating Council and the Election Infrastructure Sector Coordinating executive committees said this year’s election marked “the most secure in American history.”

“While we know there are many unfounded claims and opportunities for misinformation about the process of our elections, we can assure you we have the utmost confidence in the security and integrity of our elections, and you should too,” the statement read. “When you have questions, turn to elections officials as trusted voices as they administer elections.”

Trump is on the road to abandoning peaceful democratic elections.

what will his alternative be? civil war? secession? violence to install a dictator?

Not wanting bad PR does not equate to Trump secretly still running the republican party ffs.

Believe you are partially correct, few "truly believe that mass election fraud altered the outcome of the election," but they won't say it in a public arena, especially GOP politicians

Of course they'll vote, it is inane comment by Trump, tomorrow he'll be saying they should vote to insure the next elections are fixed

Which would mean Trump feeding the innuendo is once again undermining the election system that supports our democracy, bit conspiratorial, but often makes one wonder if there is a grand design at work here

Don't see how furthering the Big Lie is "not wanting bad PR" especially when nine months ago you admitted the Big Lie was a lie

    Your answer is not logical.

In any case, hundreds of thousands of Republicans (perhaps millions) will not go to the polls because they believe their vote is worthless.

    And that's because of Trump.

    Conspiracy theories have consequences.

I'm going to set things right.

This story of a rigged election is a pure fabrication of a man unable to admit that he lost and his incredible ability to make his base believe anything.

Proof that there are always people to believe you when you repeat a lie several times with conviction.

Those who still believe it are mired in a cult that is completely out of touch with reality.

In ten months, after a ton of lawsuits and audits, you have found nothing.

And you won't find anything in the future either, like those who look for the Yeti or the Lock Ness.

We will see at the midterms what impact the Big Lie will have on Conservative turnout.

My prediction is that if Trump continues to occupy the public space, his destructive work in the GOP will guarantee Democratic dominance for another 4 years.

I'm a staunch "never Trumper" and I truly hope you are right! He's got a lot to keep hidden and a lot to possibly loose, so we shall see.

Those 'measures' are a ruse to disproportionately suppress the votes among blacks and college students.

Enacting the measures, when there was no evidence to demonstrate their need, that is what is extreme.

Not wanting bad PR on a president with an R next to his name is pretty self explanatory. If you don't understand how the party system works both in theory and in practice, I'm not sure you're able to hold this conversation.

It is NOT the "Democrat" Party.

It IS the "Democratic" Party, with "ic" at the end of the word.

    Get it right.

    Agreed.

But lets be clear here. Democracy is being very seriously tested right now, and the republican "patriots" are the ones testing it

Oh you dont say? So why do you feel the need to violate forum policy and double post? There is already a post about this in the current events section.

If I may humbly suggest utilizing the search function located near the top of the page before posting REPETITIVE threads.

As for the topic, I highly doubt Republicans will stop voting.

To be honest that would be a better situation if true. Unfortunately I don't think that is the case.

this would make sense IF they didn’t revamp the entire voting system to an ancient paper system

you can’t expect people to ignore that

The only thing we have to fear is that 2024 will be a year of economic crisis.

Voters are most susceptible to the rhetoric of demagogues when the economy is in trouble.

And with a small “d” which imo, is more important IMO.
Really, as we speak, the Democrats are the only party that espoused “ democratic” values. I’m not a democrat. But I have hooked my wagon to them.

If history means anything, if we have a repo president and congress, we’re in for another recession. They’ll cut taxes for the rich so low, the fed will be making payments to the wealthy.

The last three Republican POTUS took office when the economy was booming and left, leaving a recession behind.

There are no coincidences in life.

Last three ? You’re being kind.
Try 10 of the last 11 recessions under repos.when you include Trump
    July 1953 to May 1954–Eisenhower

    August 1957 to April 1958–Eisenhower

    April 1960 to February 1961–Eisenhower

    December 1969 to November 1970–Nixon

    November 1973 to March 1975–Nixon/Ford

January 1980 to July 1980–Carter (Democrat)

    July 1981-November 1982–Reagan

    July 1990-March 1991—HW Bush

    March 2001-November 2001–W Bush

December 2007-June 2009–W Bush/Obama–last five months under Democrat
