Agree. I am pro-vax, anti-mandate. I got my booster today.

Ha! You sound like a born and raised, red white and blue, free American with a streak of stubbornness. :flagus:

I'm 66, and I was fully vaccinated last February. But I got Covid this past July. My symptoms were mild, short-lived, with no lingering effects. All I took for my illness was a couple doses of Tylenol and a couple doses of over the counter decongestant for cold and flu. 5 days after I tested positive, I couldn't tell I had been sick. And, I didn't pass it to my wife. I respect your right to make your choice, but ... well ... just sayin', friend.

Completely agree. I got my booster today.

I confess I'm not an expert. I was just thinking that the actual stuff that kills you is part of the immune reaction of the body trying to fight the illness. Am I incorrect here?

You can have an immune over reaction to the virus that damages your own cells, a bit like anaphylactic shock. Its quite rare though.

What do the anti vaxxers now fear? Genuine question.
I just can't see it. 60+% of the population have now had two doses, they're not ill or dying, they're not autobots obeying commands from Bill Gates.
Surely the evidence of your own eyes is the best there is?
In the meantime they inconvenience everyone around them who has to put up with restrictions to stop the virus from killing more people until we have enough to gain herd immunity.
Personally: 2 weeks ago a staff member came down with covid, he wasn't very ill with it being only 26 years old. But he spent 3 hours in a car with my wife and a day with our area manager.
My wife was due to go and see her 90 year old mum who lives 250 miles away and had to get a covid test that reduced her 3 day visit to two. Our area manager has type one diabetes and gets a lot of chest infections.
When I asked if he'd had the vaccine, he said no he hadn't bothered as he was young and fit.

Not that many anti vaxxers know what's happening around the world, but just to add, over 80% double dose in many countries.

In Australia 95% double dose is attainable over the next few months. Nine deaths have been directly linked to immunisation. All occurred following the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine – eight were cases of blood clots with low blood platelets, or thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS), while one was a case of immune thrombocytopenia.

But isn't inflammation, lungs filling with fluid, even a high temperature, part of the bod's regulatory systems engaging to fight the disease. And can't these reactions cause damage to the body?

This was some good insight on Fauci. I wanted to chime in and say that I think he was put into a position that he was not experienced in, that being public relations and during an election year with a politicized virus no less.

Trump stopped liking him when he didn't pretend the virus was insignificant like Trump was doing and wanted his people to do. And once that split became noticeable to the media and to the left, they put him up on a pedestal and politicized HIM and made it seem like his word was beyond the possibility of error. He was essentially thrown into the middle of a pre-existing battle between an incompetent president and a rabid media/political party that hates that president with every fiber of their being.

I'm not going to absolve Dr. Fauci of responsibility for the times he was dishonest, but it's worth pointing out that he never intended to be a politician or to get thrust into the center of political battles while trying to help the country through a serious international pandemic where even the most competent of people were wrong about things sometimes.

Then, although it's tragic to see real medical expertise evaporate from our population, I'd say -- yes -- retire, retire, retire! :fishing: :relax:. The most precious thing that you gain in retirement -- by far -- is your TIME, and it's so nice to have all your time to spend as YOU wish!

Parenthetically, my German friends tell me that much the same thing is happening there, too... and that if it weren't for doctors immigrating to Germany from Eastern Europe, the Middle East, India, Pakistan, etc., they'd be in one hell of a mess! Interestingly enough, though, they say that the better German physicians are themselves immigrating to Canada and the United States. Go figure....

But, for as much longer as you continue to post among us in this Forum, it is an enrichment to have you here... and thanks again for your help in understanding this bewildering, labyrinthine 'virus' enigma....

I believe doctors claim it is known not to protect people from dying after the vaccination.

What has stopped me from dying is not the vaccines, but my healthy state according to my doctors along with the fact i have not been around infected people who were ill with CV19.

Good points, but I'd say that someone who survived I believe 6 administrations, holding his position in both Republican and Democrat administrations, is not likely to be politically naïve.

Yes I know of them, but no one ever said 100% are stopped dying.

Just a few more days before I can finally get my Pfizer booster shot!

We've got one hell of a 'spike' in virus cases going on right now here in Colorado -- with acute (ACUTE) shortages of hospital beds, medical staff, and it's only getting worse every day. In Colorado, we are on track to top the current record for the most cases in our state by this time next month... and, it's being attributed to those who steadfastly refuse to be vaccinated....

    * Right now I've got a good friend in Texas who is observing the one-year anniversary of the death of his father -- a former Marine who had been in peak-health, tough as nails, strong as a bull, 'never had a sick day in his life' -- you know the kind of man I'm talking about. Well, all of a sudden, 'out of the clear blue sky', a year ago, this man comes down with COVID and in just less than two weeks he was DEAD. *

Look -- this virus has no political affiliation. It is not a "Democrat" virus, or a "Republican" virus. The virus doesn't care -- its only 'mission' is to KILL US ALL. So, even though I may be one of the more Conservative, Right-wing guys in this Forum, I'll tell you that for me at least, it's not even an issue: As soon as I can, I'm getting "Shot Number #3", and, in another six months, if the best advice is to get "Shot Number #4", then I'll do that, too -- in addition to continuing practicing 'social-distancing', wiping down suspect surfaces with disinfectant cloths, and even (Shudder! ) wearing a damn mask :eyepopping: ! If that makes me a fool, then at least I'll be a CONSISTENT one! The rest of you may do whatever you like....
