Now for someone who has come into this thread very lately, is refusing to read the beginning and is rephrasing my posts on purpose because he disagrees with me and the rest of the civilised western world that the American habits and justifications for the enormous number of guns washing around your country is both a tragedy and a comedy. And they laugh at the excuse about national security.
That is why no other modern civilised country does it.

Most of your post I find quite agreeable. I always take exception, however to those trying to put guilt and shame on America for the plight of "Native Americans". I am an American Native. ....not a native to anywhere else. I can't for the life of me see how indigenous culture could have been preserved on this Continent given the way things have developed. Besides.....today we don't make war on tribes inside out nation. We are relatively safe at least within our rights to own property and that is a BIG difference to that culture that went by the wayside. The indigenous people would have LOVED to trample Europeans under their feet like "Autumn leaves" as well as tribes they were at war with. They just couldn't do it.

 

You right but wrong , I moved to Florida from from a remote area of wv where you had to drive 30 to 60 miles to get to a grocery store and 60 miles to get to a wall mart . The county had about 8 thousand people. There was a lot of drug abuse there and fights but you didn't see people homes being broken into or muggings simple because it was a hunting and farming community. Most homes had at least a deer rifle in them and some had small armory's.. I know people who were **** for trespassing .v allows you to open carry a firearm .

 

I live in a very similar situation in the mountains. We have 1-1/2 acre lots. Most everyone are part timers 'cept me. Had to hold two crackheads at bay one night trying to bust in my home. They were robbing vacation houses and I don't keep any lights on but my dogs let me know they were there. Sure glad I was armed.

 

Why didn't you let your dogs loose on them instead?
Or install lights?
Why create a situation where you rely on something you can avoid relying on?

Why create a situation where your last line of defense does not involve the effective projection of deadly force?

If you sick the dogs on someone and they are hurt regardless you will probably get sued and all dogs are not going to do that,

 

Never mind all you need do is shoot the dogs.

If I were a bad guy, trying to get into your home, why -wouldn't- I shoot your dog?

There are specialist schools where you can go to train guardian dogs.
Don't your police use guard dogs?
Why would you get sued for protecting your property with a dog and not be sued for protecting it with a gun?

the burglar can't see a moving dog very well in the dark..trained guard dogs are regularly used to guard all kinds of private and industrial property here. In fact if you use one you have to post a warning. If a burglar hears one they rarely hang around.
