For myself, I applied in April and received my first check in August. This after a stroke and Neurological issues. For some it can happen quickly.

That’s wonderful, and I stand corrected. In 30 years, my sister has never seen it, so it’s extremely uncommon, or she’d have seen it at least once in awhile.

The only bright spot is that we are on a clock. When approved, we’ll get a lump sum check for all the months we were trying. My sister had a client whose approval took so long, he got a check for $50,000. It took years; appeal after appeal after appeal.

I don't have much of an opinion on the topic in general but I just wanted to express my empathy for your situation.

From what I know of you here I believe he is in good hands and God bless you both.

I hope it all works out for you. That check you get will really be good for you.

You are quite probably my favorite, “ I disagree with you a lot,” poster.

    Mad respect.

Thank you. Heaven holds a special place for caregivers.

My hat is off and my heart goes out to any caregiver, politics be damned.

I was a caregiver of my significant other for 3 years straight so I know what it entails.

The 23 year old called us at midnight a couple of weeks ago. I asked if we could be off parental duty after this question. His honesty was rare. The answer was no.
