He didn't change them a dime. He filed a legitimate expense report for reimbursement of cost borne by the hotel for the time they stayed there.
I am reminded of Jefferson's wise words: "peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations—entangling alliances with none" That is the ideal foreign policy.
This may sound like a silly question but why were you burying canned food? Was it due to concerns about WW3. Was it to hide the food in case there was a post apocalyptic world? I didn't realized people were doing this.
Because they're his business's. It's not just about impropriety, it's about the APPEARANCE of impropriety.
Our corrupt elites gamble with global catastrophe far too frequently for us to keep escaping it forever. I too have supplies stored away for when they finally roll snake eyes.
The reason to bury things is to keep other people from getting it. When food runs out and people are starving, they will go door to door taking it from others by force before they will starve to death. This is the reason to hide stored resources. Its also the reason to be well stocked with ammo. Its also important to remember that after they can't find food, a large portion of the population will resort to cannibalism before they will starve to death.
They cancel you; they cancel me; they cancel anyone that does not toe the line of their thinking. Now they think they can cancel Putin. Surely the people of Russia will see that their thinking is superior, and Putin will be cancelled by his own people, right? They keep saying that on our "free" media. We know our media must be free because anyone saying it is not, is cancelled and we never hear them. It is unanimous then that only "approved" speech is free. Putin will never launch nuclear missiles because even he can see the superiority of America's new brand of "free speech". It is settled then-no nuclear war. Nothing to see here folks, move along, right? Putin has apparently met his match and the only people paying the price are far away in Ukraine. All the people supporting America's latest rendition of free speech can sleep soundly, right?
So? My point was no other president ever subsidized the secret service for their protection expenses.
trump spent more money on travel expenses in one year than Obuma did in his entire 8 https://www.ibtimes.com/how-much-do...0471?msclkid=b42b8f1ba86011ec86ea3d0d600589aa
if Biden bought a golf course and stayed there all the time, charging the tax payers millions, I think the right would see how wrong that was
No, I wouldn't. Who paid the secret service expenses when, say, Bush43 stayed on his farm or LBJ stayed at his ranch? Hell's bells, they even built a runway for LBJ.
So. It isn't much as it mostly goes to employees, insurance, equipment maintenance, upkeep and so on. It is budgeted to that end, and matters not the vendor. I'm sure that were it cheaper elsewhere, it would be spent there. IMO, our former Presidents are so wealthy, they shouldn't be given anything beyond a flat pension. And let them pay their own security, offices, and so forth.
The cost is budgeted and would be spent somewhere. It's my understanding that Trumps business services are very affordable. Which is probably why our government went with them rather than with another.
It goes from the taxpayers pockets to Donald Trumps pockets. How he spends it is irrelevant, but the point is that he profits from it. They are anything but affordable, "Trump cost the Secret Service at least $137,505 for golf cart rentals at his golf clubs in New Jersey and Florida" and Trump charged US taxpayers $40,000 for Secret Service to use a room at Mar-a-Lago in the months since he left office https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-charged-secret-service-40000-mar-a-lago-post-presidency-2021-5 Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort charged the US government at least $40,000 for the use of a room between January 20 and April 30, The Washington Post reported. Trump's Palm Beach resort charged $396 per night, which is almost double the federally mandated maximum rate for most government employees in that county.
Every former President profits from every penny we spend on them. In fact, Trumps prices are the best in many instances. So buying thru him rather than another vendor is actually less costly to taxpayers than otherwise.
Name one former president who personally collects money from the government for his own protection. And no, he is NOT cheap, he is very expensive: Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort charged the US government at least $40,000 for the use of a room between January 20 and April 30, The Washington Post reported. Trump's Palm Beach resort charged $396 per night, which is almost double the federally mandated maximum rate for most government employees in that county.
