You are missing an important point. He purchased the rifle on the day of the shooting and he purchased the other gun just two days before. It is just too easy to get a gun without waiting

Do you have a link to that because unless you already have a concealed weapons permit there's a 3-day waiting period.

Meh. Nice try at partisan blame game. Violent crime accelerated from the 1960s through Carter, Reagan and Bush Sr presidencies and peaked in 1993. It has been falling ever since, until 2020-21, which I consider exceptions due to response to Covid. It had nothing to do with Dems, GOP, Kennedy, MLK, racism, gun control, NRA or anything else you said. US experienced a melt-down in the 1960s and then we were hit by a tsunami of cocaine, especially crack cocaine. Roe vs Wade probably played a role in it too because those babies which were NOT born into poverty in the 1970s were not around to reach the prime gang-banger age in early 1990s. I'm pro-life but.......it is what it is.

Imagine a crazy person comes at you with an illegal gun and you don't even have the option of being armed.

    Stop civilian disarmament!

What are you struggling with about the words “there are bills being passed”?

If the government can say you cannot own a gun — to anyone — then it isn’t a right. Rights cannot be removed.

    This shouldn’t be that difficult

I haven’t heard he should have had a record. Would it have been for online threats?

You missed the point (or perhaps this is your way of deflecting from it). The writers of the Constitution recognized (whether you do or not is irrelevant) that men had rights given to them that weren't given to them by a Government.

Well, I'm for banning the sale of all new guns but failing that I would increase the waiting time significantly. This mass shooting and the school mass shooting had one thing in common . In both events the murderer did not have to wait to get a gun

At this point, these are all effectively copy-cat crimes.

How do you stop it? I don't think you can.

Even if guns were removed, these mentally ill people would find another way to be a martyr for national publicity. If it wasn't guns, sadly I think k it would be bombs.

Part of the issue is, the national attention is giving them what they want.

The law for murder only kicks in after someone is already dead.

What do you propose we do to prevent people — especially children — from being killed?

The Biden administration is already trying to prevent illegal sales and errors by FFL dealers by enforcing laws already on the books and it is being called a partisan attack.

Laws don't prevent crime, they only provide a social debt to those who do commit them, and sometime this is a deterant.

If somebody is committed to a crime, there is no law you can pass to stop them. Especially when they already plan on dying during the crime.

You can't legislate your way out of this.

The Uvalde mass shooting was totally different.

In Tulsa, it was a crazy man with guns who decided to kill innocent people because he was angry.

They also recognized that the constitution should be rewritten occasionally to keep it a modern document.

What rights do you believe exist that cannot be taken by the government?

You're still not getting it. Can the government of the United States take away your rights? Sure if you violate a law. As long as you remain a law abiding citizen your government recognizes you have inalienable rights which it cannot infringe upon. They didn't give you rights. They acknowledged that you had them in a document we call the Constitution.

Why is there never any talk of going after gun manufacturers or distributors? Why is it always about going after the rights of individuals to own guns? It probably has to do with the US government being the biggest purchaser of weapons that are used to destroyed the lives of many innocent people including children. The US is the largest manufacturer of guns and these companies are part of the larger MIC.

That, or perhaps an abundance of private security.

Regardless, thoughts and prayers to the victims.
