I just want to start a thread that we complain about Biden’s economic idiocy. So why not start this jumble flock called the Inflation Reduction Act. That won’t help with inflation at all. In the democrat hyped up “inflation reduction act” they increased taxes on our job creators that was estimated to bring in $300 billion dollars. I’m sure not unintentionally just a few weeks after passage, Biden made an announcement that he was going to wipe out 300 billion dollars in student loan debt and it actually could cost more. That’s not including the loss of interests that would have developed on that $300 billion. so tell me… why in the hell would anyone believe this guy gives a crap about inflation. What a moron! Look at what democrat voters give us. I mean in one fowl swoop he spent the so called savings in his unjust tax increase on our job creators for those who refuse to pay their own debt. Let's understand something here the current round of inflation is driven by massive hikes in energy costs that are driven almost entirely by green orthodoxy in most of the West. Nothing in the trimmed down green new deal now being sold as an inflation fighting bill is going to change that calculus, in fact, most of it, in the near term at least will make that problem far worse. And note even the possibility of reaching a break even point is going to be highly dependent on the open pit mining of rare earth elements, of which there may not be enough on the planet to fully operate the left's green new nightmare.
the supply (and thus price) of a commodity that can be produced (or not, as agreed by the interconnected producers) can easily be manipulated to maximize profits. rare earth elements are rare. on earth. and held mostly by chinese and afghans. eventually deals will be made and meanwhile, billionaires seem to be en route to alternate sources.
Because we won't mine purs and what you describe is illegal in most Western countries. However when governments restrict supplies of basic commodities like oil as Biden has done, then you begin to see huge price rises in energy. Add to that the ESG program operated by a few large investment firms that defund oil production and you get high energy prices. Oh and it doesn't matter what sort of deal is made if there simply not enough of a given commodity at any price.
