Now, I think we'll all admit it doesn't make too much sense to be burning natural gas, transforming it into electricity, transmitting that energy across powerlines where there are loses, when you could have just directly burned that natural gas where you needed it?

I read that solar panels have an end of life cycle, are non renewable due to the nature of their design, and contain materials that are highly toxic to the environment. So down the road, they will become a major pollution problem. The more we rely on them, the greater the pollution problem.

So I've looked it up and here are some real numbers.
Residential NG furnaces are approximately 95% efficient. Older units may be as low as 80% efficient. Assume average is around 88%
NG electrical generation is about 42% efficient (at the output of the plant). Transmission losses are are 27%. Total loss is around 69%.

So, California's very smart leaders are going to burn 290% more natural gas by banning natural gas appliances.
