Which means you should actual get up to speed on what Biden said and my comments to it. What you don't understand is that the people in prison are there for FELONY not simple possession as I cited one of our country DA's we don't put people in prison anymore for simple possession. Biden's pardon does not apply to FELONY possession and his urgings to the states is for SIMPLE. He's leading from behind.

I meant what I said and as I noted in my state as in most if not every state, simple possession which is what Biden is talking about ALREADY doesn't get you into prison. He is leading from behind. It takes felony as in pounds and pounds which will still remain a federal crime too.

    BTW

Biden's pardons will help thousands with past convictions, but few today are in federal prison just for possessing marijuana

"According to the United States Sentencing Commission, a federal agency, in the fiscal year 2021, which ended last June, just 149 people were in federal prison for simple possession of marijuana, down from more than 2,000 in the fiscal year 2015."

Geez, did I shoot your dog or something? That was rude. I don't deserve that kind of snark just for providing interesting information.

Who is the one crying .. your argument was a big fail.. pay more attention next time so you will provide information that is not only interesting ..but relevant to the discussion.

Now .. with that out of the way.. do you now understand the Red Scum buckets trampling on Essential liberty .. or did you want to try another avoidance tactic like last time ?

I'll look into it. I actually like the smell, even though a lot of people don't, so baking with it is enticing.

One ounce of pot to one pound of butter. Simmer it together for six hours. You will have to keep adding water to it. After six hours, strain and place in a plastic container and put in the fridge. The butter and remaining water will separate. Drain the water. From there you can freeze the butter.

It can be used in pasta sauces and other things requiring butter. I make a pesto sauce with it. But the best is baking cookies. Most of the recipes say use only half cannibutter and the rest regular butter - but I just use cannibutter for the whole amount. Keep the cookies in the freezer. Oh, and takes almost an hour to kick in - so don't go thinking you need more before the hour is up and double up. I made that mistake once - and only once!

No, scheduling is left up to the AG. He can initiate a process to change its scheduling to a lower class or eliminate its scheduling entirely.
Which SHOULD be an illegal delegation of powers, but then the entire justification for prohibition in the first place is unconstitutional so what's a little rule breaking amongst friends?

I agree than incarcerating drug users does not benefit society. Giving them free stuff under the guise of concern for their health doesn't make sense. If anything, the money they save on the pipe will just end up going towards more crack!

How much pot stock do you think Pelosi bought earlier this week?

Marijuana stocks surge after Biden pardons weed offenders

President Biden’s announcement that he plans to pardon thousands of former prisoners convicted of marijuana possession — a move seen as a precursor to decriminalizing the drug on the federal level — sent cannabis stocks soaring on Wall Street.

Shares of Florida-based Trulieve Cannabis were trading as much as 47% higher at one point early Friday morning while Verano Holdings’ stock price jumped by some 35% just after the opening bell on Wall Street.

Cresco Labs, which is headquartered in Chicago, saw its stock price surge by more than 38% on Friday morning compared to Thursday’s closing.

Another publicly traded cannabis firm, Tilray Brands, also rose by some 39% at the start of trading on Friday.

A top executive at Canopy, whose stock spiked by some 22% after Biden’s announcement on Thursday, welcomed the president’s move.

He can pardon anyone he wishes. Not sure if the DEA/DOJ can change a drug classification under law or the Congress has to do that, good question. The fact is this act effects few at the federal level and most states have had this policy for years, as I said he is leading from behind calling on the states to do so. I'll give him an attaboy for having his administration look at the issue to perhaps make recommendations to Congress but again federal law is about trafficking not possession and states are leading the way otherwise.

He can pardon anyone he wants for anything it is completely constitutional.

Is this the best way to accomplish a goal of legalizing pot, no and in fact probably harms the discussion because it take it off on such a tangent for little return for the effort.

That's what I thought. Many possession charges are plea agreements and the initial charge was trafficking. Granted, IIRC, getting caught with more than an ounce (please correct me if wrong) is an automatic charge of trafficking. Heck, one of my friends could blow through an ounce in a weekend and crush a 40oz bag of Cheetos in a single sitting. He is my poster boy to why I no longer smoke the green.

Well you aren't the only one to have a friend as such, and those that do appreciate the humor of it :), but I don't dictate my behavior by others. I e, I know far more that abuse alcohol, but it doesn't stop me from drinking.

For simple possession, you just need one-quarter of one once on you to be convicted of marijuana possession for federal and state conviction. But if you have more than one-quarter of one ounce of marijuana on you, then you can be charged with possession with intent to distribute, which carries a longer sentence. Trafficking is something that most are convicted of if they have even one ounce of marijuana on them. Furthermore, for any just simple possession, it usually is something added to what other federal crimes they are accused of and that is a mitigating factor under federal sentencing guidelines. For instance, if you are convicted of tax fraud and are in possession of marijuana, then your sentencing will have mitigating factors in which the additional charge unrelated to tax fraud can lengthen that sentence. Or another aspect, a person already on parole for another crime is caught with simple possession will negate is parole and can bring a longer sentence for simple drug possession along with fines.

The point is it is not as simple as you are making this. It is very complex and it can make a person's life very complicated when it comes to drug laws. At least looking at the laws would help those who are caught in impossible situations.

All but two of those (heroin and Cosby's special cocktail mixer) are currently being seriously researched for medical use.

Yes. Congress would have to "de-schedule" marijuana (remove it from the DEA's banned list) to legalize it. Then, they could go one of two ways. Force legalization nationwide through legislation, or leave it up to the states. I would, and think that they will, leave it up to the states.
