Lori Foot-in-mouth is in effect voted out of office as mayor of Chicago. She had her chance and failed. The worst mayor in the USA. Good for the voters in Chicago.

Yup, Lightfoot was an unqualified disaster as mayor. Chicagoans certainly do deserve better but Chicago voters get what they deserve.

Of the two remaining candidates Paul Vallas might be marginally better but there's no reason to believe Brandon Johnson will be any better than Lightfoot. The Kook "progressive" Left is enthralled by Johnson:

Brandon Johnson Could Be Chicago’s Most Transformative Mayor In Decades
Johnson has a chance to renew the promise of progressive politics in the city—just like Harold Washington did 40 years ago.

Brandon Johnson Is Heading to Chicago’s Mayoral Runoff as a Champion of the Working Class
The results of last night’s Chicago mayor election were stunning: former Chicago Teachers Union organizer Brandon Johnson advanced to an April runoff against neoliberal architect Paul Vallas — pitting working-class power against austerity.

We'll see what happens The runoff is a little over a month away - April 4th

    As a chicagoan, good riddance.

She used the platform of a municpal servant to institute and support a host of progressive ideals that like always has terrible consequences and from such an arrogant position of superiority, it was great seeing her get smacked down (metophorically)

An viable alternative that supports real substantive reform would be good.
    Will never happen.

Hopefully Chicago's next Mayor is so good that none of us outside of Illinois even remember their name.

They haven't figured out how to find a mayor as good as Richard J Daley. He was a rarity. While he ruled a political machine with an iron fist, he excelled at managing the city government for 22 years. There were very few Chicagoans who didn't respect the man when he was in office. Oddly, he was a democrat like every Chicago mayor.

    Race And Murder In Chicago

    March 01, 2023/ Francis Menton
    [IMG]

    • In Chicago on Tuesday, current Mayor Lori Lightfoot lost her bid for re-election.

    • In a race where only the top two finishers would advance to the final round, Lightfoot finished third, with 17.1% of the vote. Of nine total candidates, the top two vote-getters were Paul Vallas (33.7% of the vote) and Brandon Johnson (20.3%). Those two will now compete in a runoff in April.

    • The New York Times, which provided those voting data, described Lightfoot in its February 28 report as someone “whose outsider status and promises to enact sweeping reforms propelled her to office four years ago,” but who “saw her popularity plunge as homicides reached generational highs and as Chicago struggled to rebound from the pandemic.”

    • It couldn’t have happened to a more deserving person.

So a far, far left mayor got booted for a far left mayor. Chicago’s biggest problem is the same as it aways was: machine politics obliterating citizens interests.
Worse, Chicago is not willing to make the changes necessary to curtail corruption. I wish the new mayor luck.

She shouldn't let the door hit her in the arse on the way out. Maybe other politicians will take note. But I doubt it.

Nothing will change as far as crime goes. Until the criminals that infest the place are removed and put where they belong, the woke laws there will prevent change.

From her one-time proclamation that she would not grant one-on-one interviews with white journalists to her announcement in the wake of the Floyd killing that she would proudly serve the “Defund the Police” idiots by cutting $80m from the Chicago Police Department, it’s rather encouraging to see “Social Justice” met with electoral justice. That Lightfoot has since blamed her loss on racial and gender discrimination can only be considered icing on the cake.

Good-bye, Lori, I’m sure there’s a late-night spot for you on MSNBC if you need it.

QED: Watch: Newly-Elected Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson Declares Blacks Should Be Free To Loot Without Fear Of Criminal Prosecution.

“If people are voting a certain way — maybe it’s because they want to. Maybe they know full well what they’re doing. Sometimes you have to take no — such as ‘no to Republicanism’ — for an answer.”

He's not worried about looting because folks have insurance.

'Johnson defeated pro-police former Chicago Public Schools CEO Paul Vallas with 51.42% of the vote versus Vallas’ 48.58% in Tuesday’s election.'

Only 2% away from a pro-police mayor? Maybe a term of this clown will do it and they'll elect their very own Rudy Giuliani.

It is hard to grasp the fact that Chicago has voted in yet another soft-on-crime mayor. How many more dead does it take before the city’s voters come to realize urban violence is their most pressing threat?

The good people in Chicago should do what the Cubans did when Castro took over in Cuba -- Leave for a better run place. Let the radical liberals and the criminals have the city. Looking at who was elected after Lori there doesn't seem to be much hope for the once great city of Chicago. How do you spell Chicago = "Chicken In The Car And The Car Won't Go".

DECLINE IS A CHOICE: Just Perfect: For 2024, Dems Pick a Dying Chicago to Showcase a Lost Joe Biden.

Weeks before the 1968 Chicago Convention, RFK was murdered after winning the CA primary. As the smoke-filled rooms selected Hubert Humphrey to run in the general, the Democrat convention erupted into open riots with fighting in the streets.

Maybe RFK Jr can lead Democrats back into sanity
