https://www.foxnews.com/us/huge-mob-ransacks-california-gas-station-police-outnumbered-video again, I believe these kids should be charged with organized crime laws along as be tried as an adult. These kids don’t deserve any sympathy from the law.
That is California, it will not happen. I have seen actual hard core boosters who were involved in multi-county theft operations never get charged with those crimes and just walk out the door with yet another Petty Theft conviction. Ultimately, California is fighting a losing battle because the DAs refuse to enforce the laws.
And if anybody thinks I am joking about that, I am not. Back in 2015 when I was working in Loss Prevention, one group were were always looking for were the "Red Bull Bandits". We did not know where they were from, but they would get on different freeways in Northern California and hit multiple stores in a single day. We had recorded as many a 6 thefts in a single day, always taking under $950 in Red Bull. My team caught them one time just outside of Sacramento, with around $925 worth of product. We called the cops as we had been tracking them through multiple counties, and stealing several thousand dollars in a single day. But the cop simply gave him a citation and let him go. And in less than an hour they hit yet another store. Several months later a lot of us were surprised that they finally got caught after a police chase, with almost $5,000 worth of stolen Red Bull in the back of a rental van. We turned over to the DA hundreds of reports we had made and our own recreation of when and where they hit. They were from Oakland, and would rent a van and just pick a freeway. Then hit multiple stores for around 100 miles, all along the same freeway until the van was full and they would return home. We had cases from as far away as Chico (160 miles) and Fresno (180 miles). https://www.eastbaytimes.com/2016/0...suspected-of-stealing-4700-worth-of-red-bull/ We rejoiced at hearing this, as surely they would finally face justice. Just our own estimates of stores we provided security for came to over $100k in under 2 years. This falls under felony conspiracy, RICO, and many other crimes. But nope, rather than follow up on all the other thefts and charging them with conspiracy and other charges, they simply charged them with petty theft on the single crime. https://www.dailyrepublic.com/all-d...spected-red-bull-bandits-face-lesser-charges/ And that is how it works in California. The professionals all know about the $950 limit, and it is frustratingly common to catch people with $940 worth of goods. I have stopped a lot of people with 20 or more such charges, and the DAs refuse to even attempt to add conspiracy charges or Commercial Burglary charges. They just want the simple slap on the wrist conviction, and they just keep doing it over and over again. Torn Saelee is a great example. He had a rap sheet a mile long when I stopped him, and he has continued his crimes. Still getting stopped, far from home with large quantities of stolen goods. And the charges for the felonies always get reduced to misdemeanors so he continues. https://www.localcrimenews.com/welcome/detail/30378310/torn-saelee-arrest.html https://www.ukiahdailyjournal.com/2019/05/04/ukiah-police-and-fire-log-4-may-2019/ For those that do not know, Ukiah is a town about 120 miles north of Oakland on US-101. And I know he was caught late last year, doing the same thing in Stockton. And the agent that arrested him said his record has over 40 arrests for theft (many of them felony), but his only convictions are for misdemeanor petty theft. There are obvious reasons why I stopped doing loss prevention, and left California.
Just sitting here with popcorn waiting for one of the resident lefties to come along and accuse people of racism because you're not supposed to report on stories like this or point out who the usual suspects are.
All these 'flash mob' events show how the 'smart phone' and social media apps have facilitated such crimes.
They do not "facilitate" it at all. However, they do popularize them. What facilitates them is the fact that even if they are caught they will only get a slap on the wrist. If you want to stop them, you identify each and every one of them and charge them with felony robbery and conspiracy charges. However, that will never happen and even if caught, at most the DA will only charge them with petty theft. There actually are laws against this in California, but they are never enforced. California Penal Code 182(a) stipulates that if 2 or more people together plan to commit a crime, they have committed a felony that is punishable by five years in jail and a fine of up to $25,000. And each and every member of that mob is guilty of that crime. Even if they stole nothing as they were part of the conspiracy to commit the crime of theft. But that is stupid, because even if they are all caught the DA will never prosecute them for that. So this will continue, as they all know even if caught nothing will happen to them.
