Thomas and his wife both make a fortune. Why do they need a benefactor?

This is why I don't take the vast majority of progressives complaints about racism seriously.

They feel they are perfectly entitled to engage in it when they feel so justified.

    Faker than a wooden nickel.

And your comrades will remain silent yet they are the same ones that jump on any perceived racism coming from the right.

Why don't you just call the man the word you really want to call him?

    And now this:
Clarence Thomas' wife Ginni was paid nearly $100,000 for 'consulting' by a nonprofit that ended up filing an amicus brief to the Supreme Court: report
I hear they paid her that much to deal with a worker dispute demanding that they actually pay their sanitary workers their minumum wage during a five day annual vacation time. She just happened to be in the room as they planned their Supreme Court case, purely coincidence.

As I stated earlier, I had no problem w the Thomas family being invited on vacation. The only real problem with that is that it showed what a bunch of hypocrites they were, constantly talking about how they just liked RVing and hanging out in Walmart parking lots.
Then there was the purchasing of Thomas' mother's house. Still plausible. Doesn't look like he sold it at excessive value.
But paying for their great nephews (who they are the guardian of?) and Ginni getting fake jobs.
Now that really is a problem.

PS Using the Uncle Tom references is really a bad way to try to get your point across. Anyone on the left doing that is just wrong. No other way to see it.

Weeeell, you do have to admit his rulings tend to not benefit minorities, blacks in particular, while at the same time accepting large sums of money from people in power positions. That's actually the definition of an Uncle Tom, personal benefits gained from the rich at the expense of powerless others' losses that you create.

To be fair, they are all doing it, Sotomayor per recent reports too but on a much smaller scale. Let's get billionaire influence of SCOTUS out of the norm.

Thomas' wife apparently got 10000 monthly payment through Kelly Conway on the direction of Leonard Leo....you wonder why Citizen's United saw daylight?

Is it OK for a wealthy individual who may have business before SCOTUS to pay the bills for a child whose legal guardian is a Supreme Court Justice? Is it fine for Harlan Crow to do that? Simple question.

Holiday? Not corruption. Buying the house? Highly suspect, no matter what the price. Paying thousands to educate this child? if true, straight out corruption. Even if there was no chance this guy would ever have business before SCOTUS is is corruption given the key role the institution plays in the way laws work in America.

    It is wrong.

Bribes are bribes and "Tomming" is what he's doing.

Both of those things are inescapable facts.

I suggest you get used to it.

You're overlooking the fact that he renovated the house to the tune of $36000.00 and continues to let Uncle Clarence's mother live there.

THis is why they all rejected any sort of ethics code. The whole court is corrupt and must go.

    That's not racist.

We've been over this. It's a reference to his actions, not his color.

its problematic. Who will define the ETHICS? How many different ways will these ETHICS be spun? The SC is the only barrier of protection law abiding citizenshave against a 100% compromised 2 tier justice system.
If Clarence did all these bad things then why not just make it about him? Why try to change systems all the time? I remember when Trump won it was all about changing the electoral college. My HYPOTHESIS is that certain folks don't currently like that they cannot control the supreme court and therefore want to change it.

I know what your side is doing.
In order to destroy democracy, you want to put one of the three separated powers under the thumb of the executive and legislative branches.
Your side is in a hurry because of the slow pace of America's unraveling, and want to speed it up by making the independent judiciary just one more alphabet agency under the thumb of progressive politics.

Sure, but it's only, purportedly, an action that a black man could do. There is a racial component.

I don't believe I said it was racist.

How about the just adhere to the ethics code all the other courts use? I don't think anyone has proposed anything else.

BTW, They didn't take a vow of poverty. They agreed to guarantee outside influences would not influence their rulings. Show me where they did. Bring me the beef.

It isn't problematic for federal judges - why is it problematic for SCOTUS? Just hold them to the same level as lower court justices, unless you think they deserve special privilege...
