Pretty accurate perception, except I wouldn't say "moderately conservative".

People like McCain and Romney, who are touted as "moderates", couldn't win an election here if their life depended on it. Too many people in the Western and Northern areas of this State won't vote for such "professionally Republican" candidates. It doesn't go over well here. What DOES go over well is Donald J. Trump. His "America First" conservatism is the type of conservatism that can win in Wisconsin... because, like you say... working class people.

 

And yes, I smell smoke... I can see it in the air... a thick haze...

 

It's was bad early last week. Go out at 0930 and the sun is red as a communist. Could not catch my breath.

And what is with the drought? When corn shoots up to $10 a bushel, a lot of farmers are going to get screwed and a few will make bank. Meanwhile a box of Frosted Cornflakes will be the breakfast of the well-to-do. Wisconsin is in for a bumpy ride.

Seriously! I've only lived a short life (millennial), but I don't remember a drought like this around here during my lifetime. The Madison airport station might've just barely recorded over an inch in June, and not even an inch in May... The crops look very sad. The garden and strawberries have had to be watered A LOT to keep them happy, and the wild blackberries (didn't water... can't water everything) didn't get all that big in most areas. Plenty of clouds, but never any rain beyond a literal piss trickle here and there. A number of field cropping states have experienced the same drought conditions... not good...

Unfortunately, you're right... I've been doing my best to prepare for it.

On another (but similar) note, I went to purchase a couple pairs of glasses today (purchased my last pair five years ago) and BOY have the prices changed A LOT since then... What costed me $250 five years ago (although I did one of those pairs without transition lenses, so it would've been more like $300 or $350 at the most with a 2nd set of transitions) costs $700 today. Roughly doubled in price in five years... but much of it likely happened over the last couple of years due to Bidenflation...

It's rough... I'm to the point where I am voting for Trump and only Trump for President, and if the RNC finds a way to screw Trump over, then I'm still writing in Trump's name anyway. **** the worthless RNC establishment that sold our jobs away overseas and who keep bending us over furniture day after day after day (never actually doing what they say they'll do). In that regard, they're no different than the communist Democrats when it comes to the same pro-globalist, pro-war, and pro-1800s-technology energy agendas...

I used to see two or three pairs of indigos going through spring and fall every year. Lately I'm lucky to see one single all year.

 

It's actually a catbird (although the picture I pulled for using does appear to have more of a bluish tint, instead of gray, for whatever reason). I chose a catbird for my avatar for a few reasons:

(1) I think that catbirds are really cool birds (as their personalities are more than colorful enough to make up for their outward lack of color)

(2) The typical catbird behavior toward cowbirds is a perfect symbolization of my typical behavior toward liberals. --- Cowbirds are brood parasites. Much like liberals, cowbirds expect others to put in the work of raising, feeding, and otherwise caring for THEIR young, even if it detriments one's ability to raise one's OWN young. The difference is that with cowbirds, it is natural behavior (God's design for them). With liberals, however, it is unnatural behavior (sinful/immoral, IOW it is NOT God's design for mankind).

Anyway, catbirds don't willingly go along with the script. They, unlike most other birds, will actually recognize cowbird eggs (so long as they see what their own eggs look like first) and purposely throw cowbird eggs out of their nests. I find that to be representative of productive individualist conservatives rejecting the parasitical socialist/communist policies of liberals.

(3) Catbirds are also rather gifted mimics, able to imitate the calls of other birds. I, from time to time, likewise enjoy mocking the stupidity and falsehoods that regularly spew from the mouths of liberals.

You should tune in to Jill "Casey" DeSantis if you wish to hear someone who only cares about herself and can drone on and on about her children in such an elitist way that is in total disconnect with any average working class citizen...
