What was the first mass shooting to take place with firearms in the colonies?

The Boston Massacre- 1770, thirteen shot, five fatalities.

    - committed by government on an unarmed populace.

You are correct, Common Sense doesn’t exist, Pain’s pamphlet did not argue common sense, but framed his comment in the ideas that were evolving in the ‘Enlightenment Movement’ among intellectuals of the late 1600’s.
I personally think on of his best works was the short essay entitled ‘Age of Reason’.Reading those two works makes it easy to understand his influence at the time, and shows aspects of his thinking influencing those drafting the Constitution. common sense among the people of the time would not have yielded what Pain wrote in his ‘Common Sense’ pamphlet, what Pain did was to frame the feelings and emotions expressed at the time into a coherent outline that summarized the political thinking that had evolved since the trial and execution of King Charles I in 6649. Pain himself was influenced by the writings of Lilburn, Lock, Hobbes, Bosset, and Montesquieu. If you don’t know who these people are, you share commonality with the average colonist of the time, yet a good deal of both the Declaration of Independence and the constitution was lifted almost verbatim from their writings.Paine made their theories digestible to those not educated in political theory of the time. I speculate 99% of Americans are not aware of the contribution of these thinkers of our most revered underpinnings of our form of government. so, common sense… it requires an education.

Isn’t it lovely how poorly our education system is at preparing people for real life?

If the ideas were based on common sense, they wouldn't have to have the words "common sense" in front.

Common sense gun control when the Second Amendment was written was gun control at the state and local levels.

Interestingly, the modern US Supreme Court has legitimized federal gun control to some extent. Most of the federal gun laws passed since the 1930s are still intact. The Tenth Amendment's distinction between powers delegated to the federal government and powers reserved to the states no longer appears to be in effect as far as regulation of firearms is concerned.

The 14th Amendment addressed the states' abilities to infringe the Bill of Rights.

    Federal laws aren't immune, either

Failure to address the issue, noted.

    As to your post:
14th Amendment - the bill of rights apply to actions by the states.

Your support for this assertion other than your opinion is what? What do you think a ban on semi automatics will accomplish?

most poles say people support banning automatic weapons, and a distinction can be made for barrel length

To be accurate machine guns are already restricted and barrel length isn't an issue with machine guns.

so you want to ban most handguns, and half of the shotguns and rifles sold in the last 40 years?

it would take decades to remove them all, but i see that as the final outcome when shooting keeps getting worse and worse..pump shot guns and pistols would be fine

except your dichotomy fails. the only well being advanced by gun banning are the well being of control freaks and criminals.

those will be rounded up as well....but it will take quite some time, not looking at this year or next, just the ultimate outcome

so tell me-what will happen first if your dreams come true

honest people will be disarmed or have their available defensive weaponry severely limited OR

    criminals will be disarmed

    which poles?
And, other than you subjective feelings, and purposed biased MSM reporting, whare do what support do you have for asserting shootings are getting worse and worse?
You represent the target population of the gun banner click's propoganda.

"All bearable arms" - the constitution protects the ownership and use of all firearms in common use for traditionally legal purposes.
The fact their may be used illegally has no bearing on this.
You don't get to ignore the constitution.
