Donald Trump indicted on 7 counts in classified documents probe

Who has never been impeached. Never been indicted. Has not lost as an incumbent.

That would seem weird, but maybe this is where @MiaBleu decided to post it-- possibly seeing another thread on the same topic, under Current Events, by @Nwolfe35 . BTW, while his thread was merged with this one (I would assume because there were more replies, in this one), Nwolfe35's thread is still listed under Current Events-- though when you click on it, it brings you here.

 

Mr McCarthy’s lack of understanding of the judicial system is staggering. Crazy we elect these people isn’t it?

Let’s look at the facts:

1) The Special Counsel:
Special Counsel Jack Smith was appointed by the DOJ because it was clear that Trump would claim that the DOJ is biased against him. Smith has in the past investigated members of both parties, handling some of the most high-profile political corruption cases in recent memory. He was the head of the Justice Department’s public integrity unit, when they went after DEMOCRAT John Edwards. He then went on to be the chief prosecutor for the special court in The Hague where he investigated war crimes in Kosovo.

2) The Grand Jury:
A Grand Jury of one's peers is made up of between 15-21 average American citizens. The citizens hear the evidence and witness testimony and then they decide if an indictment is warranted.

3) Federal Judges:
A Federal judge usually oversees the actions of investigators, as per warrants, subpoenas and Grand Jury evidence. This person is also independent from the Executive branch.

So, For those claiming Biden is the one who "indicted Trump" you have no clue how the separations of power work, nor how our judiciary system works. The fact that a sitting US Senator doesn't understand this, or at least pretends not to, should have his constituents a bit concerned.

Biden didn't indict Trump. A Grand Jury of his peers handed down the indictment after an Independent prosecutor investigated his actions with the help of an independent Judge.

And here we see the goal of the persistent persecution. A man gets indicted by a zealous prosecutor and 6 years of headlines.

 

I don't think the jury pool in Miami will be "very friendly" Miami Dade is still a relatively liberal area, even considering 2022, although obviously not at DC levels.

It would be hysterical if Cannon was the originallly selected judge.. I know defendants can request a change of judge due to bias... I sure hope the DOJ can as well..

Everything trump touches turns to **** and he has already soiled America with his malignant narcissism, so there is no really good outcome for any of this. At this point, all we can do is grimly press forward holding trump accountable for his actions and let the consequences play out.
To let him skate because of our deference to the office of potus or because of some venal political calculation will only make things worse in the long run.
We need to do what is right. The small stuff, like paying off people or stealing documents, is pretty irrelevant, but the sedition and his persistent attempts to subvert the election he lost must be punished severely.
If that means that a former potus goes to jail, so be it.
He would need to demonstrate serious regret and humility over his actions to deserve any mercy, and we all know that trump will keep doubling down on his lies and never admit his sins.

 

What you got is an abject failure of a human being. Who somehow made it to POTUS.

He likely will be a criminal soon. On top of being an abject failure.

 

No, here we see the outcome of a careful collection of hard evidence, sufficient to convince a Grand Jury to indict. No point pretending otherwise as it is all just white noise bullshit.

As I said before; it doesn't take much for a GJ to indict. They are only given the DA's side of a case.

 

Most likely Trump or his team. They were likely given information, and they leaked it.

It didn't leak before Trump was notified.
