My interest in NHL hockey died many decades ago, when they added too many teams and spread the talent too thin. And I am Canadian. (Shrug)

It's OK, I winked to show it was meant as a joke.
Not a great start to the second round for the Leafs though.
    Haven't even played poorly really.
Dominated in chances and possession last game but just couldn't get anything past their goalie for 50 mins.
Got to hope their playoffs away form continues, 3 for 3 in round one.

20 years ago I was a Leafs fan. Mortal enemy of Habs fans back then. Still now, dunno.

Oh yeah, still the mortal enemies. Especially after what they did to us a couple of years ago. Didn't even make it to the playoffs this year though. Bloody toilets seats...

Bugger. Leafs lose in OT to go 3-0 down in the series.
This is going to have to be the comeback of all comebacks now.
Didn't help that our number one goalie went off injured at the start of the 2nd period. We don't have a number 2 goalie of note. Woll made a few great saves but he's no Samsonov.
Sammy taken out by his own teammate too.

The Canes are now in control of this second round series. After a reportedly dreadful performance on Sunday losing 4-8 away (fortunately I didn't watch that game, haha! I set the DVR to record it but for some reason the game wasn't recorded), the Canes rebounded and crushed the Devils 6-1, taking game 4 on the road for a 3-1 series lead. Now we're able to close it up on Thursday at 7 PM at home.

This game 4 was a rather authoritative win. The Devils scored right at the beginning of the first period (1'55") and appeared poised to repeat the Sunday performance, being fast and dangerous during the first 10 minutes, but after surviving that onslaught while conceding only once, Carolina turned things around and tied circa minute 17 and then had an incredibly perfect second period, scoring five goals and conceding none. The third period was boring, with the Devils pretty much flat and discouraged (the fans poured out of the arena at the end of second period which I do find disgraceful; what kind of fairweather fan abandons the team like that just because they are behind???) and the Canes just kept moving the puck around not looking much interested in scoring more, preferring to save energy for the next game. Third period went scoreless for both teams.

Our 3 wins in this series have featured an aggregate score of 17-3, with a home aggregate score of 11-2, and even considering the 4-8 defeat in game 3, we have still outscored the Devils so far by an aggregate score of 21-11; we're basically scoring 2 goals for each goal they score, and at home, scoring 5 for each one of theirs, so I'm very confident that we'll win the series tomorrow or if not, we'll have another opportunity at home in game 7.

I don't want to jinx it but it does seem like the Devils won't be able to outscore us in our home ice. They look rather done. I hope I don't eat my words because gloating in advance is very dangerous, but for what I saw in games 1, 2, and 4, we have this in the bag.

    Go Canes!!!

Not looking good for the Loafs.
If Samsonov is still out we're in big trouble and even if he is back it's going to take a miracle at 3-0 down.

Let's go Canes! Like I anticipated, we won the series in Raleigh against the Devils tonight; a much more suspenseful, much more balanced game; 2-2 in regulation, 3-2 after OT. We missed in regulation two rather incredible open-net putaway opportunities, shooting above the net; we could have avoided OT if either of these two went in, and we did have more SOG than the Devils (39-29), but overall the Devils fought hard and produced the only game in this series that wasn't lopsided. Overall the Canes outscored the Devils 24-13 in 5 games. A comfortable series for the Canes.

The Devils are to be commended for a very clean series; no disloyal violent hits and a low number of penalties for both teams. Tonight, one penalty against the Canes and two against the Devils.

The Devils had the third best regular season record, just one point behind the Canes' second best. I was surprised that the Canes had a rather easy time dispatching the Devils. It bodes well for next round.

What is incredible is that the 'Canes lost their top line to injury: Max Pacioretty and Andrei Svechnikov before the playoffs, and Teuvo Teravainen in the second game of first round. It's hard for any team to overcome such a blow, and still, the 'Canes are in the Conference Final. This in itself is remarkable, and even if we don't get to the final (or if we do, we don't win the final), I will be rather content with what we have already accomplished this season. Next year with these top players back, we should do even better.

Leafs go out after a gutsy comeback from 2-0 down only to lose in overtime.
53 shots to the Cats 44.
Hell of a game but the dream is over for another year.

Bobrowsky is a hell of a goalie.
He was the difference between the Leafs and the Cats.

Crushing defeat at home for the Hurricanes. In the dying seconds of 4th overtime, the Panthers scored. They are very hard to beat. I'm scared. The Hurricanes were close; they hit the hardware twice, including once in overtime. So it could have been different... but the Panthers have won their 8th consecutive road playoff game. Oh my! This may be the end of the road for the Hurricanes!

It's over for the Canes. We lost all four games by one-goal differences, hit the post or the crossbar a few times, outshot the Panthers every game by quite a lot but like you said, Bobrovsky made the difference as he kept saving and saving and saving. I think he is the one player who won this series for the Panthers. Oh well. I'm sad, but I congratulate the Panthers and their excellent goalie.

We aren't huge hockey fans, here, but we do love sports. If there's an interesting finals for just about any sport, we'll watch.

So, here we are with Stanley Cup and NBA finals; both with close-by teams. So, we are now watching sports every day. LOL.

The Panthers play just a few miles from here. We've gone to a few of their games. We saw The Eagles at the stadium not too long ago.

On the grounds that it's better to be knocked out of the cup by the eventual champions rather than one of the ''also rans'' I have been wanting the Panthers to win.
This has led, of course, to Vegas winning game one.

    Go Cats!!

Officiating was all messed up in Game-1 This situation where 3 Vegas players pummeled one Panther ended up with the Panther in the penalty box, and in the end they were given over 40 mins of penalties.

Thank you Carter. Going 0-3 would have been a disaster.

So, instead it's 1-2 and home game tomorrow. How about going 2-2?
