Crime is an Action.

Crime is an action not material thing. There is no inanimate object on the planet that can violate somebody's right of that object's own volition.

Yet you got people saying things You can't have this", or "you can't have that" or "That's dangerous!". I wonder if these controlling types fear the object itself, or if they fear the person that wields it?

Maybe they just think everybody is dangerous?

You know.... it always gets me when I read somebody on the right making a statement like this that "sounds" profound. And might even be true. But then you sit there reading waiting for a "therefore" that never comes. Like when they say "Guns don't kill people. People kill people" and leave it there without making a point. I, for one, never can. I'm just left them wondering why they don't just SAY what the point they are trying to make is.

So WHAT if crime is an action and not a material thing? What difference does that make to.... anything?

You are told that you can't have a fully automatic machine gun. I personally do not fear the weapon until someone touches it, then both the weapon and the person are fearful.

 

Everyone can be dangerous at any point and without warning. So from that standpoint, sure, the argument could be made.

Are you trying to rephrase the old guns don't kill people, people kill people bumper sticker? Why not just stick with that? And just because an inanimate object requires a person to operate it, how does that invalidate the need to have reasonable regulations relating to that object? Are you for repealing all laws the restrict any inanimate objects then? If so, while I may not agree, I would say at least you're consistent. But I suspect you may not be...

That bolded part is not entirely accurate. Most people have the potential to be dangerous. Not everybody can be dangerous.

Is alcohol a "legal drug" ? Of course it isn't. It's heavily regulated and fobiden to be purchased. by those under age 21.

Given your argument in the OP I would think you'd be ok with, for example, fully legalizing pot for consumption. I'm for it even though I don't use it nor have I ever tried it. Just seems silly that it's not legal when alcohol is.

You must be new to America. These days, in this country a crime is whatever the government says it is. What you think can be criminal. What you possess can be criminal. What you MIGHT say, do or think can be criminal. Basically, every American is a criminal and it is ONLY by the grace and mercy of our all powerful, all knowing and totally, completely, unquestionably benevolent government that we are allowed to roam around freely...as long as we understand that once we question that benevolence we open ourselves up for whatever felonies they deem appropriate.

 

Politicians use irrational fear to manipulate people into giving them more power. Sharp objects are dangerous, therefor, you should pay us a lot of money to keep you safe.

 

Would you consider the current gun laws sufficient regulations?

But the argument isn't that you would not use it so you have the right to have it is wrong on two levels:

1. If you would not use it there is no reason for you to have it.
2. If it is your right to have it is also the right of those who have less character than you and would use it that is the case it is a danger to others.
