After reading all 14m messages posted on PF [ok, well, maybe a few thousand ;], I have taken note that nobody has ever changed their mind [about anything] and concluded that attachment to one's ideology is [by far] the strongest force in Nature.

I would like to thank all the different folks I have had the pleasure of chatting with and would leave the younger folks with a note of optimism...

...after another ten or fifteen years of "reorganization," the 40's should usher in a new era of freedom and economic prosperity, so instead of concentrating only on the present institutional rot and chaos, get to work and build yourselves a great future by having the courage to ALWAYS tell the truth [as you see it] and especially by having the integrity to admit when you are wrong [which is easy because we are ALL wrong almost all the time! :].

Good health and luck to you all...

Umm....I was convinced, and changed my mind about gun control. I now oppose it.

Funny you picked 40, my oldest graduated this year I turned 40. His schools all paid for, (cyber security) and after my youngest goes off in 2 more years, it will be my act 2, we made it. So what you recommend is the plan.

Actually, I was referring to the 2040's, but other interpretations can apply [although the 40's are the toughest decade for most].

And you proved me wrong [which I am almost all of the time].

Sorry it took you this long to realize nobody (or at least very close to nobody) has ever changed their stance on an issue based on chatting on a message forum. You are clearly a very optimistic person, which isn’t a bad thing. But it sounds like you at least had some fun while on here. Good luck to you.

I have seen a few posters concede points and have done so myself a few times.

It very rarely happens anymore though because of a change in… policy… that allows the a specific segment of the forum members to take up the vast majority of the threads — devoid of legitimate sources or discussions in good faith.

The two largest events that I witnessed causing this **** was the removal of the truth rule (rule 10) — which granted likely involved a huge amount of moderation. The second was when Obama was elected and the final nail was when trump was elected.

The downfall of PF as a place of debate has been carefully curated. Trolling, conspiracy and “triggering” the other side seems to be the new forum motto.

    Best of luck to you!
