well, the 20+ year war did set us on a bad path... I do wish Bush would have just did a quick few months aerial attack vs what he did

as the truth is, at the time we had many hijackings, it was normalized, that is how this was allowed to happen, now passengers will fight to the death to prevent such, thus a 9-11 could not happen again

2008, NATO promises Ukraine it will some day join.

2010, Yanukovich wins a presidential election.

2013, Yanukovich's government suspends trade and association talks with the EU and opts to revive economic ties with Moscow, triggering months of mass rallies in Kyiv.

2014, Parliament votes to remove Yanukovich after bloodshed in protests. Within days, armed men seize parliament in the Ukrainian region of Crimea and raise the Russian flag. Moscow later annexes the territory.

April 2014: Pro-Russian separatists in the eastern region of Donbass declare independence. Some 15,000 people have been killed since 2014 in fighting between the separatists and the Ukrainian army, according to the Kyiv government.

In 2021, Zelensy asks Biden to help Ukraine join NATO.

The Ukraine was the largest of Russian possessions, with 55 million people. It was also the "breadbasket", the primary source of agricultural goods. Of all Russian states, it was the most valuable- and necessary. They want it back; that is why they are there....

 

If the eastern and southern part of Ukraine is pro Russia and the central and western part is pro EU then wouldn't the best solution be for Ukraine to split in two?

Waste tons of money on wars, forget whatever country you are president of or
senator of or whatever.

Promise to fight every country, all at once even

Promote weird people of no particular sex in the military

Abruptly end energy supplies to the US

Mistreat our allies

Make everyone scared of a nuclear war

Take away any sense of direction or purpose

 

You are well informed, careful, when it does go to crap you'll be sent off to re-education camp..

 

And yet the US has not been destroyed. Despite all the c##ty whining.

 

Depends on how you see it and how the hungry, homeless and dirt poor see it..

I get it! Then again I feel more and MORE fortunate every month that goes by, but I know there are a great many that realize the opposit every month they endure..

It really hard for the fortunate to relate, sympathize and in most cases believe the reality of these times

I think by now it's clear that a US president lacks the power to destroy the country. Shared power isn't just fairness; it's a hedge against incompetence. But if a president was able to ruin the country, it would have already happened, given some of the complete fools we have elected over the years.

NATO and it's members have plenty of blame for Ukraine. The Soviet Union fell, abandoning communism, and we still keep on with NATO, half a century later. We put up nuclear missile shields, negating their nuclear capability, and the shield itself, uses Tomahawk missiles, for which the US has nuclear warheads that CAN be launched from the defense shield, and aimed at a target. Imagine the Bay of Pigs, but not just nukes next door, also a system that doesn't let you launch back. The US would never tolerate that and leave it to just....trust.

Ukraine willingly giving up their nukes, is arguably the dumbest thing a group of humans has ever done, in the history of the galaxy.

When nuclear war happens (not if but when), it will not be a huge country starting it. It will be a little dictator, or a terrorist.

I can cite no US interest in the Ukraine war, aside from selling bombs. If Russia wiped them out, it would be sad, but would not impact the US, in any way.

Shouldn't that be Ukraine's choice, not a choice imposed by Russia's military?

 

? It's not a choice, Ukraine is not eligible to join NATO at present,
NATO / OTAN membership is being dangled in front of Ukraine
as an incentive to get it to fight in a war and kill as many
Russians as possible.

And the US would like to base missiles in Ukraine aimed at
Russia to threaten the Russian public, and hope to produce
a regime change allowing the US to take over Russia and
divide it into 18 'Free Russian States', and rob them of their
oil and gas.

 

Joe Biden has effectively already destroyed our country. It will be a miracle if we can come back from the devastation (our cities destroyed by crime, our borders breached by invaders, our economy ruined, the disrespect by other countries, the decimation of our military, shall I go on?) All he has to do now is continue the course.

Yes, he's done a lot of damage and the rest is just in the process of collapse.

Taking just the dollar for example, despite excessive spending we have had the benefit of other
countries using the dollar for international trade, and as a reserve currency.

That allowed us to over-spend, yet other countries were getting the benefit of having access to
a world medium of exchange and were fairly OK with the arrangement.

 

So Joe decided he was angry with Russia, as well as China, N. Korea, Iran, Palestine, Syria, and
many other countries, so Joe so banned Russia from buying or selling using dollars, which affected
a lot of the World's trade.

And now everyone is having to set up an alternative currency, which could work out pretty well.

But not for Joe public.

But why would Joe Biden care?

Why do we let one angry idiot wreck life for everyone else?
