Reasonable assessment in the article but the author's conclusion in the last sentence differs from mine. Searching 'The Art of War' and checking online, I think the Sun Tzu quote the author effectively used was made up:

Granted, some of those policy makers really are that stupid but not all of them. What they all have in common is the strong desire to keep their lucrative jobs, and do so by acting on and maintaining the narrative. They seem important, being in the news and endlessly quoted, but they're just an upper strata of useful idiots with roles to play. A scandal or worse can remove any of them, and they know it.

Those sanctions and the idiocy of the DC crowd are not mistakes, flukes or errors in judgement. They're intentional. Their dog and pony show is to provoke hotly argued politics, and so-called MSM 'reporters' do their jobs to keep it going. Their purpose is to divert attention.

Which means it's up to independents to address the elephant in the room, demanding gov't financial accountability and correction, and showing why. Problem is, too few are aware of the country's financial condition. Besides, why bother discussing the condition when it's so much easier to shoot the messenger and argue politics.
