Voters could not care less who a VP candidate is. Biden won because he promised handouts. Fact!

I don't understand why Austin did not notify the WH of his absence unless there is something fishy going on here.

    Republicans want Austin fired
Let me know when it happens.

You have created a hypothetical scenario, and already claim it is a fact ???!!!!!

Impeachment for this? If that happens, it just confirms Republicans are not interested in what’s best for the country. They just want to hurt Democrats.

What he did was wrong. His boss (Joe) should at the very least tear a strip off him. Maybe ask for his resignation.

But if he faces impeachment calls, it is only because Republicans are butt hurt at the two justified impeachments of Trump. No other reason.

Only if Austin doesn’t resign or Biden doesn’t fire him should the House vote to impeach him.

Unless I was unconscious in a hospital or dead, if I took a day off without informing the office in some way, a call from HR would be in my immediate future.

Considering my HR, probably even if I WAS dead!

He is 6th in line to the presidency. Did no one at the White House say, "Hey, where is the Secretary of Defense? Shouldn't he be in this daily briefing?"

You were more mild about it than I was, but nice to see you agree with me.

he had the time off, if he chooses to get a medical procedure on his time off is up to him, seems petty to attack him over it

If it's cancer, then he's a dead man walking. I hear they've made remarkable advances in treating cancer in recent years, but I haven't seen that happen yet personally.

I guess the next question is, what's going to happen to the chain of command now that this is known? I think now is the time for action to prepare for the Pentagon chief's departure. Is it promotions for everyone? Or are they going to hold on to Austin's employment for a few more months?

As long as the treatments don't interfere too much in his daly life, I imagine he'll be allowed to stay on (and Joe will know whenever he's in the hospital) until they jointly decide it's time to go...

Hunh? Prostate cancer and breast cancer if caught in time have a remarkable survival rate and if caught on time are eminently treatable. Giuliani for example was diagnosed with prostate cancer 23 years ago. Really not sure why you said what you did.
