Vladimir Putin has complained about Tucker Carlson failing to ask him "tough questions" during their high-profile encounter last week.

Talking to Russian journalist Pavel Aleksandrovich Zarubin on state-television Rossiya-1 on Wednesday, the Russian president said: "To be honest, I thought that he would behave aggressively and ask so-called sharp questions. I was not just prepared for this, I wanted it, because it would give me the opportunity to respond in the same way."

Putin added that he did not "feel full satisfaction from this interview," delivering yet another blow to Carlson, after he humiliated the broadcaster during the interview by ignoring almost all of his questions and barely letting him speak.

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson conducted a much-hyped interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin this week that mostly consisted of Putin lecturing Carlson about Russian history while barely letting him get a word in.

However, Financial Times Moscow Bureau Chief Max Seddon singled out one particular part of the interview that had to be particularly embarrassing for Carlson, which came when the Russian president mocked him for getting rejected to work at the CIA decades ago.

"We should thank God that they didn't let you in!" Putin said to Carlson. "Although it is a serious organization, I understand."

Seddon noted that Putin embarrassed Carlson despite the fact that Carlson had gone out of his way to lob softball questions at him while also in the past praising his nation for supposedly upholding traditional Christian values.

"The way Putin casually humiliates one of his most prominent and sympathetic interlocutors in the west here, after state media and the Kremlin spent ages praising him, is just brutal," Seddon posted on Twitter. "Classic cheap power move."

 

Bizarre. Why did he choose Tucker of all people to grant an interview to if he wanted to have that kind of interaction?

I learned something new about Putin, at least. He has very strange ideas of what "a serious conversation" is.

 

He chose him knowing Tucker would offer him a platform to spew his propaganda, and now he disrespects him for doing it. Tucker should have know better but he was too eager to appease Putin.

 

A " serious conversation" with Putler would be like someone physically peeing on his leg....while Putler will tell you it's really raining outside....many RuZzkis like him are in a totally different dimension.

I watched the entire interview, and Oliver Stone's interviews of Putin years ago. Putin did not humiliate Tucker, he kidded him in a friendly fashion. Tucker took it well and was educated about Russia and the man, as any open-minded person would.

Right, he did it afterwards in the interview I mentioned above. Tucker was the "useful idiot" for him, and in the interview he admits it.

 

So first the left condemns the interview for giving Putin a platform and now condemns the interview for not giving Putin enough of a platform? Can’t make this stuff up.

He is literally ridiculing him for the softball interview, but of course it was an open platform for Putin, and he barely allowed Tucker to say anything, he just lectured him about how everything it US fault. He didn't NEED tough questions, he simply pointing out that they didn't exist.

He made his points in great clarity.

Plus, he positioned America or American journalism as children playing in a sand box.

And, what better foil for that than the famous idiot Carlson, the representative of Trump and the American right wing.

 

A serious discussion would involve the history of the tension/animosity. Which is exactly what Vladimir Putin did. My thanks to him for the education.
