Please don't give me links. I've tried that and get more confused by terms like 'false slates,' so I gave up.

Anyone got a nutshell definition/explanation which is correct?

I mean. In Michigan, let's use.

There are two candidates, Smith and Jones.

Jones gets 10 votes, and Smith gets 8.

    Jones wins.

So...where do 'fake electors' get into the scene?

It would be a simple matter of asking Trump. I'm sure he could explain it clearly.

Electors are appointed by the state government following the election, as set out in the relevant laws and procedures of that states laws. Fake electors are ones who were not in fact appointed within those laws, but are fraudulently presented as if they were.

    Thanks.

Why the need for 'electors' when the vote was 10/8 for Jones?

"Fake" is the fake word Democrats/left use.......They are called "faithless" and "Hamilton" electors when the Democrats/left do it.. The Democrats have set the precedent that no one wants to talk about....

Oh my... another silly word game... the left like to call it "whataboutism" and not use the word "precedent"

The constitution specifies that the President is elected by the Electoral College, a body made up of a number of Electors. Each state appoints a number of Electors equal to the sum of its Senators and Representatives according to laws passed by its state legislature. Originally the Electoral College actually met and voted in Washington.

These days, when you cast a vote for Trump or Biden, you are not actually voting for them, but for a slate of electors pledged to vote for them under state law. After the election, the Secretary of State of the state prepares a document identifying the slate of electors that won and showing their votes for either Trump or Biden, has it signed by the Governor, and sends it to Congress.

In the last election, some groups in a few state disputed the election and prepared alternative slates of electors and forwarded their names and votes to Congress under irregular procedures. Georgia was an example of this. These unofficial slates of electors are called "fake electors".

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Electoral_College

Note that there have been movements to replace this somewhat crufty process with a simple count of the popular vote. However, it does have the virtue that the vote in most states is not close, and recounts are never needed of the whole country, only states that were close. A close election requiring a recount of the entire US popular vote would be a huge mess.

Are you explaining the Electoral College and the "Hamilton faithless" electors of the Democrats before or after 2022? They just used their power to not follow the will of the voters but made their own personal choices instead.....

You don't technically need electors, that is just the system established in the US Constitution. It has it's advantages and disadvantages, all widely debated. There isn't any major push to change the system, mainly, I suspect, because whatever it would be replaced with would just have its own different advantages an disadvantages.

Because the founders were afraid if just the popular vote was used to select a President a few large states could control the election. It is a balance to give small states less of a disadvantage.

They are the people falsely named by those Democrats who not only set that very precedent of doing it themselves.... but LITERALLY had to go and change the 135 year old law on the books to punish a Republican.... the law now that the left pulls out of their rears to satisfy their argument reads what they want AFTER 2022. Video's of Democrats doing the same contesting the election on the Congressional floors is publicly available...

    Very Short Version:

-Political parties of the candidates running for office submit a slate (list) of Electors to the Governors of each state.
-Governors (and voters) select Electors from the winning presidential candidate's list and send them to Washington to take part in what's called the Electoral College.
-The Electors, as part of the Electoral College, then cast their votes to select the next president of the nation.

Specific rules for Electors vary from state to state, but the Electors decide who will be President. Electors are basically just voters who hold no political office. There is no Federal law requiring them to vote for the candidate they were selected to represent.

There is a lot more to this.

You have no pictures... but I do have videos...

It is the same law the Democrats tried in 2000, 2004, 2017....

January 6, 2017.... seven House Democrats tried to object to electoral votes from multiple states.
Jim McGovern (D-Mass.) objected to Alabama's votes.
Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) objected to Florida's votes.
Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) objected to Georgia's votes.
Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.) objected to North Carolina's votes.
Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) objected to the votes from North Carolina in addition to votes from South Carolina and Wisconsin. She also stood up and objected citing "massive voter suppression" after Mississippi's votes were announced.
Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) brought up allegations of Russian interference in the election and malfunctioning voting machines when she objected following the announcement of Michigan's votes.
Maxine Waters (D-Calif) rose and said, "I do not wish to debate. I wish to ask 'Is there one United States senator who will join me in this letter of objection?'" after the announcement of Wyoming's votes.

There were no fake electors supporting Democrats in the last election. There were many supporting the Republicans as part of an effort to do away with the results of a fair and open election.

You seem to be conflating two entirely different things.

Members of Congress raising formal objections to electors during the joint session is perfectly legal and, significantly as you're demonstrating, public (I'm not sure there is generally much point, but that's a separate matter). As the article you linked explains, both parties engage in this, with equally limited effect.

The fake electors scheme in Georgia was a secretive, illegal conspiracy to create a slate of voters supporting Trump and send it to Congress as if it were the legitimate slate from the state officials. It may have even involved conning some of the actual electors, since some have said they were told it was only to be sent in the event of Trump winning the court cases challenging the Georgia election result, but despite those cases all being lost, it was sent anyway.

You are confused thinking faithless electors are different from fake electors. Educate yourself… read the Electoral Count Act of 1887….before 2022… and get back to us.

    I'm really not.

Faithless electors are those legitimately appointed by the state but casting a vote other than what they pledged to (for which they may or may not be punished, depending on the state). That has nothing to do with the OP question.

The "fake electors" in 2020 were different people to the officially authorised ones (generally the people in place to be electors had Trump won the state) who acted, or were presented, as if they were the official electors. The alleged criminal offences involved in this are largely based on state rather than federal law. That is clearly what led to the OP question.

Fake electors are individuals who declare themselves electors but did not achieve that status through official and thus lawful channels by virtue of the fact that none have been made official by a signed certificate of ascertainment by a state governor. They become fake and thus unlawful when those unsigned documents are submitted to congress, a federal magistrate, and the national archives. The official group of them is called a slate.

The cert submission points are where signed documents are supposed to be sent to.And these are fake because the electors are pretending. They are fake because they are part of a larger scheme by trump and his co conspirators to subvert the 2020 election.

Note that in order to become president a candidate must earn at least two hundred and seventy electors.

If Trump could deny biden his 270 By convincing some secretaries of state to switch electors from Biden's to Trump's while at the same time not winning 270 himself it becomes a contested election.

In a contested election the Vice President sends the vote for President to the house where republicans know in advance they have a two state majority in the state delegations and thus Trump would retain power. This you see was the hair brained scheme.

Biden won Michigan. Michigan's electors went to Biden.

Trump did not accept that. Trump's team got alternate, pro-Trump fake electors, along with fake documentation, in an effort to replace the Biden electors.

That occurred in more than one state. That's fake electors in a nutshell, sans acronyms.

Sorry that my link was too much.
