A true soldier does not fight because he hates who is in front of him; he fights because he loves what is behind him. That said, I love my country for what it is and what it could be. Scumbags who wanna hate from the left or right need not apply.

When your country is as far out of line as ours is under Brandon, I, a veteran, would not.

 

Executioner is not the proper role of a soldier. That is a way to ruin them. So I guess I wouldn't gas Jews voluntarily.

Also, I would have fought because my family and people would be behind me regardless of how I felt about the government. One can love one's country without loving its rulers.

Is the US really out of line, or do you just disagree with its current direction? Those are different issues in my opinion. I am getting tired of hearing calls for unamerican behavior from whichever side is out of power. It's akin to my preschool child telling me she hates me because I wouldn't buy her candy. When did acting like a spoiled toddler become acceptable adult behavior?

 

I like to think I would have resisted serving in the Nazi army but we've seen studies showing how ordinary people can be taken in by evil, especially when draped in the trappings of legitimacy.
I'd also like to think that I would have resisted the serving in Vietnam, though understand the people that did were mostly honorable doing what they thought was right. One's government can be wrong and the right thing to do is, rather then join in, resist.
I think there are things that are much more than just a wrong direction happening in the US at this time. I have more just some policy issues with the Biden admin. I think his end goal is to replace us and use the USA as an exploitable base for an international oligarchy. ITMT, he and his are teaching the majority of the population to hate a minority: straight, white, males, like my son. Never give money to people who hate you. Never serve people who hate you.
