I am curious how many couples or even immediate family vote for the same party? My wife and I have never voted for the same presidential candidate. Our kids are starting to vote and I am pretty sure they will vote similar to their mother. Am I in the minority or are most families politically divided too?

Assuming you both vote for one of the two major candidates, why don't you and your wife simply save time and not bother to vote at all?

That is not the principle of our democratic processes. Every citizen should cast a vote and make their voice count. That would be like arguing since I do not live in a swing state why vote at all. My party has no chance of winning.

The pragmatist in me disagrees but definitely to each their own, I am not saying you are wrong. I am a net/net type of person myself.

I understand your analogy to not living in a swing state, but to whatever extent that percentages matter, your vote in a non-swing state does matter a little bit. Two votes canceling themselves out does not impact that percentage to the same extent but I realize that is getting ridiculously precise.

With that being said, I might be tempted to not vote if I did not live in a swing state, but I also care about local elections where my vote may matter.

How far would you take net/net? If you had 2 children that voted differently from you and your wife would you both just agree not to vote? What about siblings, parents etc...? IMO net/net adds a level of complication that is not necessary. Just go out and vote.

Yes. I think there should be a voting app, so everyone can vote with their cell phones without even leaving the house.

Up until last three elections I had always voted Repub in a blue state. The last three elections I have voted third party. My wife had always voted Repub until last election. She couldn’t stomach voting for Trump so held her nose and voted for Biden. Anyone who tells you to not bother voting is an idiot. Please continue to vote how you want to.

I will vote for local issues only, and my wife will vote for a POTUS candidate. In the past we have voted for 3rd parties,

Why does it always seem like you so persistently post something along the lines of...

    "Anyone who___________ is an IDIOT!"

It is either that, OR you say some sarcastic comment followed with a... "¯\_(ツ)_/¯"

Personally, I would find such predictable banality to be not worthy of my time, but you do you I suppose.

Psst…I'm not the subject of this thread. For the record…kind of creepy how much attention you give me. Try not to derail this thread too much…k?

True, but it is a valid observation nonetheless. It is not a function of paying extra attention, rather it is a function of having a great memory.

    Go figure ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Probably. They were raised not to be pinkos.

One of them voted Democrat a couple times, then she started her own business. That cured her.

I would describe my wife as a devout social Democrat, doesn’t seem to understand or consider economics/immigration/foreign policy at all in her voting calculations or if she does then none of it matters because she’s concerned with abortion/lgbtq/animal rights, AGW, etc etc.

I’m more the complete opposite and social issues are far down the list to me in favor of a strong conservative approach to economics/immigration/foreign policy and national debt

Is there an actual strong conservative approach to economics and national debt? Because I haven't witnessed that from conservatives in a long time. Be nice if they got back to that approach.
