Is Hollywood shooting for the average American? Super Mario, The Little Mermaid, Batman, Dumbledore are movies for a schoolboy or an average American these movies are not for adults I'm 35 years old and I don't know any interesting Hollywood movies so that, you could say it's for the smart ones
Oppenheimer was the first new Hollywood film I have seen when it opened in years. It is a great film, and the first decent film to win an Academy Award in over a decade. Less you think that I am not a film buff, I have over 600 DVDs with films that date from the turn of the 19th century to the turn of the 20th. Among the current people in Hollywood, most suck.
There is no talent in Hollywood anymore. They can't come up with a fresh idea to save their lives. Everything is remakes of old movies, sequels, and comic book characters. All building on someone else's long ago ideas. A few exceptions but very few. Actually I think we are experiencing some "dark ages" in all of the arts. Little real talent anywhere. I think it's partly because it's all coming from a generation that (we're recently learning) is almost entirely uneducated. Also laziness. I mean who wants to spend months producing something if you can spend an hour painting a picture of brightly colored shapes and someone will put it in an arts festival and if anyone has the nerve to say it's crap, you can just counter that they're racist?
I've got over a 1,000 DVD's and Blu-ray disks, and three Sony Blu-ray players in various rooms. And, I'm happy to say that I haven't been inside any movie theaters since 2014 ("The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies").

I personally think "hollywood" is better than it has ever been. The theater-released movie thing is in a lot of trouble, but the entertainment industry is producing some great content streaming and on TV.
