1. Those who are patriotic by believing the government and the government-supplied media. 2. Those who do not believe our government and are blowing every alarm signal possible about unnecessary wars, growing debt, offshoring production, a flood of immigrants, and what certainly looks like genocide in Gaza, and feel even more patriotic for trying to save our country.
You are forgetting the robot voters who would vote for anybody their party of choice nominates. They are on both sides.
I was going to answer 1. straight party line voters, 2. Split ticket voters who vote the candidates and not the party. But your answer covers that.
Life, politics, and especially voter motivation can't be reduced down to two loaded poll answers. You're leaving out the single issue voters, the straight party voters, the voters who pick whichever party will put more money in their pocket, and even the libertarians and anarchists who vote for whomever is for the least amount of order and control. And those are just the groups I could think of in a couple minutes of pre-coffee Friday morning thinking.
Yes, I guess I was being too subjective. One big problem I have here is that being anti-Biden, so many people very rudely declare I must be a Russian plant, and that has happened to a lot of the best people here. It appears to be the logical fallacy of 'poisoning the well', that everything I say, and scan my history, aimed at protecting the US, should be ignored because I'm an evil Russian and am trying to destroy the US.
In my post I was using 'you' not as a second person pronoun but as in common usage to mean people in general, so I wrote that badly. It would have been better to ask: 'Am I unpatriotic for not believing the Biden Administration?' 'or patriotic for advocating what is in America's and most of the world's best interests?'
It's question a lot of people have to ask themselves if they are going to war: 'Is it patriotic to obey your President and Congress and go kill half a million people for no good reason? Or more patriotic to follow the guidance of the founding fathers and not get ensnared in wars on the other side of the planet?
A lot of people don’t like Biden, 55.4% of all Americans have a negative or unfavorable view of him. 53.7% view Trump unfavorably or negatively. Which makes this election between two disliked and unwanted major party candidates. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/favorability/2024candidates.html This can be carried further thanks to Pew Research. 34% of all Americans view Biden favorably, Trump negatively. 37% of all Americans view Trump favorably, Biden negatively, 26% of all Americans have a negative or unfavorable view of both Biden and Trump. https://www.pewresearch.org/short-r...ve-unfavorable-views-of-both-biden-and-trump/ This rematch is an election most Americans don’t want. One made in hell for most Americans. But since when has either major party ever cared about most Americans. They both care only about their base and govern for only their base, not most Americans. Whoever wins will be disliked and unwanted occupant of the White House with approximately 60% of all Americans opposed to the winner. Such was the wisdom of both major parties with their selection of their candidates.
You are forgetting ballot harvesters and their accessories multiple mail ballots. Regarding war. Iran is rattling the nuclear saber. Israel is typically silent. BUT. The general Middle East Arab war scenario is "bluff first, then keep bluffing, the attack small." As far as our interests go, it is not in America's economic or security interest to let Iran create the Caliphate they are fighting for.
Yes, a good comment. What happened was I was thinking qualitatively, and produced two logical divisions, one of people who claim patriotism is doing what the govt wants, which in the present day is what I consider un patriotic because it is what is bad for the country. But quantitatively, the biggest numbers of voters don't think at all but just vote blue or red their entire lives playing a team game.
That team game has been shrinking. When one looks at party affiliation both major parties have been shrinking while independents rising. Independents have risen from 30% of the electorate in 2006 to 42% today. Those who today identify or affiliate themselves with Republicans at 28%, Democrats at 30%. 2020 is a classic example of the power independents, those who don’t affiliate with either major party, the less to non-partisans have. They voted for Biden in 2020 by a 54-41 margin enabling Biden to win the popular vote by 7 plus million votes. But then voted republican down ballot causing the GOP to gain 13 house seats. Lots of ticket splitting in 2020. Only once before in our history has a presidential winner who won the popular vote lost house seats. That was in 1888 between Grover Cleveland and Benjamin Harrison. Cleveland won the presidency and the popular vote, but by only 90,000 votes instead of 7 plus million. Cleveland’s party lost 8 house seats. With both major party candidate being so unpopular and unwanted by most Americans, I’m not sure what to make of this presidential election. I do however think for many Americans this will be a who cares who wins or loses election. What does one do when one dislikes and doesn’t want either major party candidate to become the next president? They tend to stay home and not vote, refusing to choose or vote third party. 2016 is a classic example of this.
Only two types? How boring an unoriginal and not at all representative of most thinking human beings.
As a suggestion, I usually write "you (generalized)" to make it clear that I am not using it as meaning anyone specifically.
I like option number 2. http://www.politicalforum.com/index...ontario-liberal-party.616683/#post-1074762577 I have a hobby of losing elections in order to at least attempt to draw attention to some pretty huge questions..... www.BankingSystemFlaws.blogspot.com/ and www.BankingSystemsFlaws.blogspot.ca/
90% of anti Biden people live outside Russia. But claiming all anti Biden people are Russian means Biden supporters can ignore them.
Russian stooge simply means someone furthering Russia's interests (usually unknowingly). It has nothing to do with where you live.
I'm furthering America's interests, basically not destroying our economy, not over running the country, not starting umpteen wars all at the same time, not getting our most skilled and transferable to leave the country.
