The weakness of the response I've quoted above doesn't help dispel the fraud of the Trump court bond. It's low level "chafe".....

Developers routinely appeal tax assessment, in an attempt to get them lowered.

It is also common for developers to put their assets in the most favorable light for the bank.

This is particularly helpful when the bank is one that launders a lot of Russian cash through Trump properties.
They may choose to accept Trump’s bloated valuations in order to appease their Russian friends. Trump can get away with saying his apartment is triple its actual size. And, he can get away with default. As the money launderers are very creative in that regard.

Deutsche Bank was especially accommodating in this regard. So we’re the various Russian banks who financed many of his deals.

No matter how you choose to explain the situation, it is ultimately the bank's appraisers that determine value. This is a transaction between the bank and the borrower.

As far as the Russia stuff, that is just silly. Sorry.

New York AG says $175 million Trump fraud bond isn’t properly backed, should be voided

The New York Attorney General’s office on Friday asked a judge to effectively void a $175 million bond posted by former President Donald Trump to secure a much larger monetary damage award in his civil business fraud case as he appeals the judgment.

The AG’s office in a filing said Trump and other defendants in the case had failed to show there is enough identifiable collateral to back the bond for the judgment in Manhattan Supreme Court.

The filing notes that the surety Trump used to obtain the bond, Knight Specialty Insurance Company, is “a small insurer that is not authorized to write business in New York and thus not regulated by the state’s insurance department, had never before written a surety bond in New York or in the prior two years in any other jurisdiction, and has a total policyholder surplus of just $138 million.”

The filing opposes a joint motion by Trump and KSIC to justify the insurer as the surety company holding the bond.

Seems like it was just a matter of time until this happened since the underwriter of the surety bond is not authorized to do this kind of biz in NY.

NEW YORK (AP) — New York state lawyers and an attorney for former President Donald Trump settled their differences Monday over a $175 million bond that Trump posted to block a large civil fraud judgment while he pursues appeals.

The agreement cut short a potential day-long court hearing in Manhattan that was to feature witnesses.

As part of a deal struck during a 20-minute recess, lawyers for Trump and Knight Specialty Insurance Company agreed to keep the $175 million in a cash account that will gain interest but faces no downside risk. The account so far has grown by over $700,000.

The bond stops the state from potentially seizing Trump’s assets to satisfy the more than $454 million that he owes after losing a court case brought by the Democratic attorney general. She had alleged that Trump, along with his company and key executives, defrauded bankers and insurers by lying about his wealth.

I'm not sure how the issue of Knight Specialty Insurance Company not being authorized to under write surety bonds in NY was handled. Probably just another instance of the court bending over backwards for His Orangeness.

Actually, it's the corruption, or perhaps the stupidity of the judge.

Trump wants to pay the $175,000,000 in cash. For some idiotic reason, the judge and/or the AG refused to accept it.

I think they're just looking to exact more revenge, which makes them corrupt AF.

Your source appears to be a real idiot. The bond wasn't "incomprehensible" at all. It was perfectly comprehensible to anyone with a brain. Even the idiot judge, who may not wear clothing under his robes, figured it out with a little help from Trump's lawyer. You should probably issue a retraction.
