I've been pricing potential replacements for my aging side by side fridge/freezer. Who on earth needs a "smart" fridge enabling me to see what's inside 24/7 from anywhere in the world!? I already know about the dead hooker; I'm the one who put her there FFS.
I have a feeling this is meant to appeal to the techy younger generations. I mean, who doesn't want to check on their butter from the bathroom at work?
Its just a gimmick. ...for now. Once we get carbon taxes more firmly established, your 'smart' fridge will be able to tell the govt (via privately contracted data mining agencies) how much steak you've been consuming so you can be properly punished for how much you're 'ruining the planet.'
I no time we will wonder how we ever lived without one. The best example is the smart phone. I am sure a lot of boomers said "who on earth needs a smart phone? I just want to make a phone call I don't want to watch Top Gun 2 or browse political forum" The same is true for smart thermostats, smart alarms, smart tvs.... A smart fridge can create shopping list for you and probably place orders for you too. It can also display cooking video for you on the screen while you prepare food and combine it with AI and it can recommend recipes for you based on the ingredients in your fridge. Fight technology if you want but it is a losing battle. Some may be against it but time is the greatest weapon against them.
