To be sure, the nation has some remaining flaws, and has its snivelers and detractors both here and abroad but, scurrilous attacks on the nation's noble institutions aside, slashing unemployment from 6.3% to 3.9% is an indisputable sign of the nation's renewed vitality.

There’s no question the United States is living off past investments in infrastructure without building the new infrastructure we need — or even upgrading the old infrastructure we have. It’s time to invest heavily in quasi-public infrastructure and ramp up effective public oversight of that infrastructure so it will work for us in emergency situations.​

Infrastructure can be an incredible enabler of such aspirations as economic growth, greater access to jobs and healthcare, increased interstate commerce, or access to broadband.​

The High Speed Rail to Las Vegas will take more time than driving, as well as more time than flying, and cost as much as flying.
$12 billion? When finished the project will have cost $100 billion. All government projects cost more than they claim.

 

Trillions spent on infrastructure, if you can call giving money to the rich building wind turbines and solar farms which are failing our citizens by providing no electricity when we need it, by not providing the cost saving advertised. I can go on and on about the inefficiency of green energy.

Overall US crime down double digits

WASHINGTON (AP) — New FBI statistics show overall violent crime in the U.S. dropped again last year, continuing a downward trend after a pandemic-era spike.

Murders dropped 13% in the last three months of 2023 compared with the same period the year before, according to FBI data released this week. Violent crime overall was down 6%.

Property crime also ticked downward about 3% in the nation as a whole, though in the Northeast and in large cities over a million people it increased by about the same amount.

3. You do #1 because you arrogantly ASSUME your claims of fact are infallible.

Most of that can be accounted for by the pandemic. Statistics during that period are meaningless.

A couple of things have made that any such statistics meaningless. First of all it is during the pandemic and second, many large blue cities have stopped prosecuting many crimes.

Additionally, exactly how did Biden have a thing to do with it?

 

Trump continually reassured everyone that he had the pandemic under control, of course, but, with the dramatically-lower unemployment rate, the rise in GDP, and the long-overdue major infrastructure renewal underway, the Trump cult needs excuses, obviously.

The unemployment rate was lower in Feb 2020 than it is now and the labor participation rate was higher in Feb 2020 than it is now. The total unemployed has never been as low under Biden as it was under Trump prior to the pandemic.

I am still waiting for any results on that much heralded infrastructure bill.
