Not even the US believes that Israel will have a post-war part to play in Palestine. Today, Gaza's political leaders and others are meeting in Moscow to consider a post-war Palestinian government. Do you think they will seek out our State Department advice after we have been their perpetual and serious political and military enemy for two decades at least??
As long as Humas is in control and Iran keeps supplying them with weapons while shelling Israel, as soon as Israel stops, the Palestinian group will still try to fight Israel.
There is no Gaza after this war. Gaza is now Israel and will remain so. The Palestinians will have to go elsewhere. Likely, 120 miles south into the Sinai. This is already underway. The Palestinians have once again shown themselves to be incapable of living in peace and this time they won't be given their land back. But you are right in regards to the State Department. The Palestinians won't be meeting with the State Department to set up a government. Israel may not even meet with the Dept of State to decide how Israel moves forward with their reconstruction efforts after the Palestinians have been moved out.
As long as netandyahoo is in control and usa keeps supplying him with weapons while shelling gaza, as soon as hamas stops, netandyahoo will still try to fight palestinians.
There isn't evidence of that idea that Israel will be attacked after they stop. For decades, Palestine has worked to establish its own country. During those decades, Israel has made ceaseless, remorseless war on Gaza and West Bank. October was not the start of that war. It's not reasonable to consider Palestine's moves as more than defensive moves. What is going on now is months of heinous war crimes against the civilians of Gaza as well as the violent theft of Palestinian property in West Bank.
The Iron Dome is impressive, but no I wouldn't say it's equivalent to what Reagan had in mind with Star Wars. Scale is not irrelevant. To me Israel is a superpower because it has nukes, even nuclear-armed subs if I recall correctly. Yeah, I guess the upside to having a hated ally is the ability to prove and improve weapons. Artillery made cavalry obsolete? That's an odd assertion. I always thought it was mostly the machine gun, though rifling in general made them far less effective before that. And I guess rifling would have helped both light artillery and rifles counter cavalry.
That is what the Likud charter calls for - the party of Netanyahu and a center of Zionism. But, Israel is losing. The slaughter of the civilians may look like victory to some who have lost all moral bearings. And, that may even be bolstered by attempted theft of the lands of Palestinians ins West Bank. Israel is losing the support of the world as they behave like a rogue state. And, they aren't winning in Gaza.
His days may be ending. There is a growing move to reject Netanyahu for a number of reasons - his crimes in Israel, his failure of economic leadership, his failure in Gaza, and his escalation of war in Lebanon, Syria, and Iran. Now, he is saying he will continue the slaughter of civilians in Rafah whether there is a ceasefire or not.
Analysis of the IDF as a fighting force is not particularly positive. They are losing their armored vehicles, as they tend to travel around with no ground support and radar protection systems that don't work in street fighting or when hit in rapid succession. Their fighters sit in open windows where they get sniped, or worse. They slaughter hospital patients, doctors, nurses, etc. and then bury them 30 feet down to hide the fact that they were shot while hands are tied, run over by tanks, and, it appears, they were buried alive. They don't have legitimate military objectives on their missions. This is not an elite fighting force.
That's an important point that I think many Israelis are blinded to by national pride. Israel is a nation built on Holocaust guilt and propped up by powerful western nations (mostly the USA). It absolutely relies on presenting itself as holding the moral high ground, and if it loses that... It will be in extremely serious trouble.
Wrong on nearly every account. Palestinians never recognized recognized Israel’s to exist. There can be no peace until they do. You have a short memory….Humas attacked Israel. Just like when the US was attacked, the war stops when the ruling factions that continually try to slaughter Israel’s, surrenders or leaves.
The satellite assistance comes from identifying and tracking threats to all our allies including those Arab countries who are allies with Israel. Palistinians in power in Gaza are allied with IRAN.
Since the beginning of President Abbas's presidency, he has insisted that Israel is a permanent state. So has Hamas. In fact, so did Arafat! They do not agree that Israel exists legally. The process was clearly illegal. And they don't recognize Israel as a "Jewish State". After all, there are large numbers of Muslims and some Christians living in Israel, and Palestine doesn't agree with their second class citizenship. Israel makes a bid deal of this, claiming that being recognized as a permanent state is just not good enough.
Live in the past. It no long exists. Surrounding Arab nations including Jordan and Egypt and 165 of 193 of UN nations recognize Israel. So let’s get real. Israel is a DEMOCRACY and an ally.
You aren’t serious…they have been attacked for decades. Tell that to the people who live there. https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/palestinian-rocket-and-mortar-attacks-against-israel
Our history with Iran is not anything we can be proud of. We fomented a bloody revolution in Iran and installed a western leader who was not successful. As with many revolutions, the most radical were able to rid Iran of foreigners and install their religious government. We then entered the Iran-Iraq war on the side of Iraq, for no reason other than that Iraq was weaker. Reagan stated his objective to be that neither side would win and the war would drag out! After 911, Iran gave us the first information from a foreign country on what had happened. Now, we give Israel the military support to make war on Iran. If you were Iran, I bet you would support others who oppose Israel, too. In the last go around, Hezbollah was a big help. So are the Houthis. So are the fighting units of Hamas. So are others. Israel has little in the way of support from regional governments. Arab countries are NOT in favor of Israel's genocide, and that is changing the economic landscape at a time that Israel can't afford that.
Israel implemented a siege on Gaza. That is war. And, it was crushing on the Gaza population. It brought an end to exports, a high level of food insecurity, shortages of everything, interrupted water, electricity and fuel. Gaza was blocked from fishing its waters! There were periods where Israelis took pot shots at farmers working their fields. Now you and Israel whine about some rockets??? Is there some rule I don't know about that says Gaza is not allowed to give any resistance to Israel's war?
Not so. After 10/7 the world has seen Gaza and Hamas for what it is. There can be no misconceptions about what the world witnessed. Decent people of the world continue to support Israel and it will remain so. What Hamas did on 10/7 cannot be forgiven or appeased. Hamas started this war and committed unforgivable atrocities. Now Hamas must reap the whirlwind. But that is what happens to those who refuse peace and embrace genocide. You play stupid games, you win stupid prizes. Now their homeland is forfeit.
Correct. After the atrocities committed by Hamas on 10/7 there can be no negotiations. No stoppage. This is an existential fight now. Israel cannot and should not stop short of the eradication of Hamas. Nor will the US cease sending them any weapons or assistance they need. I myself will be sending another $500 million in support shortly. And there is more where that came from. Hamas and the Palestinians who follow Hamas have lost all right to live in a peaceful world. The inhumanity of Hamas was exposed for the whole world to see on 10/7. They cannot whine like school girls claiming they are being unduly treated after what the world witnessed on 10/7. So they will suffer the consequences and they will have to move elsewhere. I very much support the Palestinian people and hope when they settle elsewhere they learn to appreciate what living in peace means.
