Interesting. I addressed the question asked, and since it destroyed your argument, you changed that argument. I believe that's a shifting the goal post fallacy. Not sure if it has a more fancy name.

As to this new point, a large portion of the transgender community does acknowledge the problem with transgender women in women's sports if they transitioned after puberty. That portion is rather divided over beginning transition as puberty starts with blockers and the later hormones. But that issue is why I said that ability level divisions instead of sex based divisions are the way to go, and the above shows that it can work. In the end, you will have a division that will be nothing but cis men, and maybe a few women who can keep up. And then as you go "down" the divisions will get more and more mixed, until it starts going the other way. The idea that women should be competing separately from men is rather sexist, and more and more women are proving it. Competing with anyone, male or female, on your level is the only true competition.

Because some places have laws requiring that.

SO fully clothed, from across the room, you can tell that the person who looks like a woman and was born with a vagina (not that you will see that) has an XY chromosome pair? How do you do it?

Quite honestly, this is a rather false point, although not intentional on your part. The idea that most people thought the earth was flat is as false as the idea of a flat earth itself. Most people were aware that the world was a sphere, and there were globes in existence long before Columbus was a twinkle in his daddy's eye. Now the heliocentric vs geocentric things is a better analogy to use. You even have those who claimed the sun moved around the earth being told they were insane, or heretics or both.

LOL The typical dash for refuge in a strawman. I can tell if they are biologically a man or a woman

I don't buy the terminology because I don't have a political agenda on this issue. I am a professional coach and I speak about the integrity of sport. and I don't buy the bullshit-if you are XY you are a male, if you are xx you are a female. Even if you have your penis removed and you have hormone induced breasts you are still a male.

I thought you could tell from across the room while they were fully clothed. Make up your mind.

So then the chromosomes are not the biological part of telling if a person is a man or a woman?

    Like I said

Most of the other 10% that come "close", dropping their pants reveal their actual gender. Strawmen and mischaracterizations of what I have written. You keep responding to my post without addressing the content of my post. Sooo typical.

???? Not when you are across the room making the assessment. I dont have the ability to make chromosomal examinations. Strawmen, mischaracterization and irrelevancy. Do I recall correctly that you are tansgendered yourself?

Really? Laws requiring bathrooms that can only take one person at a time to be gender assigned? Why? That's nuts.

Not if you went in seeking chromosome tests. A doctor will do one. They may likely think it silly being the odds are very unlikely to physically fall out of the norm but it can be done

This is government we're talking about. Probably some politicians getting a hair up their arse at just the idea a man was in the same restroom their wife uses, even if not at the same time.

You recall incorrectly. I did date a trans woman once for a few months before she left for a great job opportunity. The only other close thing is that there are several trans people that we know, men, women and NB.

My point is that one cannot actually make that assessment even upclose. Is a CAIS person male or female? How do you know, or even know they have CAIS? And if it's so easy, why are we having all of these trans opponents stopping cis women from using restroom, thinking the cis woman is a trans woman? As someone else notes, the guess would be correct 90% of the time, especially when dealing with a cis person. But it's still a guess, not knowledge.

And what is the supposed content? And if you are claiming that gender is determined from what is outside, setting aside that you are referring to something other than we are, then that means that chromosomes don't play a part in that determination. Either a CAIS person is a male because of their chromosomes, a female because of their genitals, or there has to be a third sex designation.

Well that would certainly be the end of women's sports. Women cannot and will never be able to compete with men. It is as insipid as to have a male gorilla go against a female gorilla or male chimpanzee vs a female chimpanzee. I am unaware of any mammal where the female can compete against the male. Such a species may indeed exist but it certainly is not homo sapiens.

Why should anybody cater to the whims of mentally ill people who like to dress like women? What is it in for us?

Given the amount of science fraud being produced these days maybe not.
Have there always been cross dressers yes. Have they ever been this high a percentage no. so again your argument is not persuasive.

    Dodge noted.

I am not going to agree to disagree. What you are basically doing is defining something as mental illness because you don’t like it and/or don’t agree with it. My nephew is a trans person. He absolutely understands that biologically that he is genetically a female and nothing can change that. He has made the choice to live as the male gender. Making a choice that some in society don’t like for whatever reason is not mental illness. He was quite miserable prior to the decision and suffered from depression. He made the decision he wanted to live as a male. He decided that top surgery was something he wanted to do but not bottom surgery. After the full transition, he is happy, well-adjusted, and does not suffer from any mental illness whatsoever. He is a productive young artist. Most who meet him for the first time do not know he is genetically female — he’s a guy to them.

Just so you understand ‘mental disorders’.

A mental disorder is characterized by a clinically significant disturbance in an individual’s cognition, emotional regulation, or behaviour. It is usually associated with distress or impairment in important areas of functioning. There are many different types of mental disorders. Mental disorders may also be referred to as mental health conditions. The latter is a broader term covering mental disorders, psychosocial disabilities and (other) mental states associated with significant distress, impairment in functioning, or risk of self-harm. This fact sheet focuses on mental disorders as described by the International Classification of Diseases 11th Revision (ICD-11).

My nephew has no clinically significant disturbances in his thinking, emotional regulation, or behaviour. He has no distress in any areas of functioning. Therefore, not mentally ill. The way one perceives themselves is not generally considered a mental illness.

Stop assigning definitions to people that have been debunked and removed from psychiatric definitions. The mental illness that transgender people experience is related to how others treat them, decisions they may or may not want to make, how people like you perceive them and hate on them with various labels, and living a life not being comfortable in one’s skin. In a kinder society, not so many transgender people would be suffering from anxiety and depression.

Your comment fully demonstrates that you have no inkling of the meaning of being transgender. If everybody dressed the same — a transgender person would still have the same feelings related to their identity. The way one dresses is a very small part of one’s identity. I am a female, I hate wearing skirts/dresses so I don’t — ever. It’s not part of my identity as a female. It’s not about what you wear.

Why are they ‘mental’? You have an exceedingly ignorant understanding of the definition of mental health.

No, what would be supportive would be to explain to the juvenile that even though people are usually born male or female, some people don’t feel the sex they were born with matches their gender identity and then explore it with them. Gender identity is more than genitals. It’s how one perceives themselves. Another supportive action would be to tell the juvenile to stay away from the transphobes who often post their ill-informed opinions of forums.

Their definition of mental disorder: any thinking that does not agree with them.

I for one think that mutilating ones body is a sign of mental illness.
