    Because it's a rigged trial.

Is there a court ruling that states; To gag only the defendant is unconstitutional?

If not, then it’s a matter of opinion, thus, not a fact.

Nobody else is gagged. Other people involved in the trial have been speaking out.

Nope. Not irrelevant. Your failure to provide specific comments from Cohen is an issue.

Ah...so you have no evidence that Trump is the only one permitted from talking about witnesses and jurors. Got it.

Because he's not supposed to talk about witness's jurors, etc.

Trump keeps talking — at campaign events, outside the courtroom, in interviews and on social media. And state prosecutors in New York keep claiming his speech is violating the court-imposed gag order, which bars him from attacking witnesses, prosecutors or family members of the judge and the Manhattan district attorney.

On Tuesday, New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan held a hearing to review allegations from prosecutors that Trump had violated the gag order 10 times. Trump’s lawyers countered that the former president’s postings about potential witnesses are a permitted response to political attacks against him — an assertion the judge didn’t seem to buy.

Merchan has not ruled yet. But two days after the hearing, prosecutors raised four new potential violations. The judge then scheduled another contempt hearing for Thursday.

Yeah, the toddler in chief is on his last warning.

Yeah, it's more of a slap on the wrist with a final warning before real consequences. We'll see if Trump can control himself. And if the judge will follow through on the threat.

One example is Cohen (the star *cough* witness in this case) who has been making money online talking about how much he hates Trump and Trump's guilt in this trial.

He has been publicizing this trial, insulting Trump, and directly profiting from this prosecution. He has made a ton of extrajudicial comments designed to taint Trump and influence the public (and thus a jury) against him.

The judge has intentionally allowed it to continue while sanctioning Trump and gagging him from responding. He is thus promoting a one way smear campaign against the defendant that is ripe for an appeal. Many of his rulings on motions have been ridiculous and makes it clear he knows this is a sham trial to influence the election and he is doing nothing to ensure any verdict sticks. He just wants to take Trump off the campaign trail and influence the election. It's a joke and a miscarriage of justice.

I noticed you didn't provide any specific "extrajudicial comments designed to taint Trump and influence the public (and thus a jury) against him." Care to provide any specific comments he's made?

Whenever corrupt multiparty systems fail to fulfill the minimum requirements for effective governance authoritarian models become far more popular.

"Mussolini's Fascism, which up to 1938 was not totalitarian but just an ordinary nationalist dictatorship developed logically from a multiparty democracy. For there is indeed some truth in the old truism about the affinity between majority rule and dictatorship, but this affinity has nothing whatever to do with totalitarianism. It is obvious that, after many decades of inefficient and muddled multiparty rule, the seizure of the state for the advantage of one party can come as a great relief because it assures at least, though only for a limited time, some consistency, some permanence, and a little less contradiction."
THE ORIGINS OF TOTALITARIANISM, Totalitarianism in Power, By Hannah Arendt, Meridian Books,New York, 1958. P. 257. (emphasis mine)

IMO, Trump would be more effective voicing criticism for the general failure of the justice system as a whole as opposed to focusing entirely on the lack of full due process in his own trial.

Little steps -- start with a Wiki search:

    Potential victims of injustice[edit]
In 2014 a study involving the Registry found that 4% of those sentenced to death in the US turned out to be innocent. This 4% error rate has been extrapolated by commentators to the 2.2 million people in prison in the United States, giving them a figure of 88,000 innocent people behind bars, few of which have access to attorneys and innocence projects to appeal their cases.”

LOL! This thread is great. If Trump had a shred of decency, or barring that, a shred of discipline, we wouldn't be on the cusp of jailing his stupid ass.

These are regurgitations of the horseshyte spewed by Trump defenders, originally coming from Don and RWM, we hear each time the rule of law is applied to his behavior that violates the law, court orders, or the constitutional order they hate so much.

Merchan made a point in the contempt order of leaving open the possibility that he could send Trump to jail for continuing to violate the order. New York state law limits him to fining Trump $1,000 per violation; Merchan wrote that such a small monetary amount “will not achieve the desired result in those instances where the contemnor can easily afford such a fine.”

No kidding. All these judges refuse to put Don in jail because they think that's what he wants. I say let him have his wish.

I agree. Trump is his own worsts enemy. I'm not a fan of the death penalty either, believing that two wrongs don't make a right.

No need to repeat yourself. The gag order was unfare and you know it. Having a gag order is fine but it needs apply to everyone involved.

Easy, Bill. You are supporting common sense, fairness and the American way. I don't think any of that exists in this trial. This is political persecution.
