    Ann Coulter doesn't think so.

    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...n-coulter-donald-trump-comments-b1954331.html

Author and conservative opinion columnist Ann Coulter said she did not know how “abjectly stupid” former president Donald Trump was when she endorsed him in 2016.

The former attorney and Senate Judiciary Committee staffer’s 2016 book — In Trump We Trust, E Pluribus Awesome! — made the case for Mr Trump’s candidacy based on his promises to halt immigration into the US and build a wall along the US-Mexico border.

But five years later, Mr Trump’s wall remains largely unbuilt, and Coulter has gone from one of his biggest boosters to an unlikely critic, citing his many unfulfilled campaign promises.

Speaking with former New Republic editor Andrew Sullivan on his Dishcast weekly podcast, Coulter said she was quite aware of Mr Trump’s character flaws when she endorsed him but did not realise that the character flaws were accompanied by other deficits.

“I was well familiar with what a narcissistic, ridiculous, tacky, vulgar, arriviste this guy was,” she told Sullivan. “That I knew about. The one thing I underestimated, in fact, did not see at all is, I had no idea how abjectly stupid the man is.”

Continuing, she told Sullivan that Trump had not kept his promises, and had “directly” betrayed his political base of “Americans waiting their whole lives for someone to care about them”.

    Ann Coulter defends Trump
Criticising the former president she once endorsed is nothing new for Coulter, who in 2020 called Mr Trump “the most disloyal actual retard that has ever set foot in the Oval Office” after he endorsed former college football coach (now senator) Tommy Tuberville for the seat once held by Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Trump is bright. He's just arrogant as hell. He thinks he knows it all.

I've seen other company presidents and company founders with the same attitude. It works because they are "the boss." If you don't tow the line, you are out. If they know the business well and are out in front of the market, they can run a successful company.

Henry Ford was a prime example. He knew how to run the company at first and made it very successful. Then, in the 1920s, he stuck with the Model T for too long and lost the market to GM. He had to shut his company down for like a year to retool. He was the boss and you knuckled under to him or else. Even his son Edsel, who was great car designer in his own right, could not change him.

When you are a politician, its does not work that well because you can't fire those office holders who disagree with you. It works with Trump voters because they hear him say what they want to hear, and like it or not, he's honest about his opinions. Given him credit for not going back on his word, and that's why he has a large following.

Like most threads, defining terms is always important. Intelligence defined by what metric?

I'd say his malignant narcissim has made his relentless self preservation the main event. It would actually be easy for him as it avoids all other complicating considerations and develops that one habit. I'd say he has guile and day trading has provided many short term opportunities even luck. BTW, nothing that would make him a good oath keeper or an elected official bound by an oath they actually take seriously.

I don't consider him stupid either. He's definitely street smart.
The way I see him acting/behaving, America is his....belongs to him.

I think that President Trump has a very high IQ but......

he is wise indeed to use a grade five vocabulary........

so that he appeals to the majority of USA voters.........

And...... he gets along great with janitors and waitresses and cooks and blue collar workers at his resorts........

which is a habit that earned him a lot of money......
    ......
    ......

    .....
    .....

If think most of us can agree that he's uneducated. It's hard to tell if he's intelligent because of his inability to express himself coherently. He definitely appeals to a large number of voters because he appears to have been successful (that's not clear to me either) despite his lack of education. It makes many people hopeful that maybe THEY can succeed too without the effort of having to learn basic reality. But I think he was caught by surprise that so many people follow him.

I believe that President Donald J. Trump actually learned a lot

    from his experiences in life........

I have the impression that he would be willing to deal with the national debt of the USA in a manner similar to what was done by President Lincoln......

and was attempted again by J.F.K.

Did going bankrupt in '91 prepare Mr. Trump for the Presidency?

Did going bankrupt help convince Mr. Donald Trump to run for POTUS?

Is Ann Coulter regarded as an intelligent woman?

"My libertarian friends are probably getting a little upset now but I think that's because they never appreciate the benefits of local fascism."

Well, that makes her objectively stupid, imo.

Coulter is a skinny, unhappy, mean person who needs to take a few chill pills and effing eat something.

Is Trump regarded as an intelligent man?
    He's not stupid

    stupid

    adjective
    stu·pid ˈstü-pəd
1:a: slow of mind : obtuse
b: given to unintelligent decisions or acts : acting in an unintelligent or careless manner
c: lacking intelligence or reason : brutish
2: dulled in feeling or sensation : torpid
    still stupid from the sedative
3: marked by or resulting from unseasoned thinking

    dumb

    adjective
    dumber; dumbest
    1:a: lacking intelligence : stupid
    pretended to be dumb
b: showing a lack of intelligence
    asking dumb questions
2:a dumb look on his face
    b : showing a lack of intelligence
    asking dumb questions
    c: requiring no intelligence
    dumb luck

He had educational opportunities that only a few get ... and squandered them.
    dumbest.jpg

He's lazy, and refuses to take the time to learn what's needed.

Which makes him a danger to himself and everyone around him.

But, is he regarded as intelligent? I think his sycophants think he's the smartest man in the world. He's sure fooled them into emptying their purses to him.

I think most reasonable people find him to be dangerously ignorant, neither stupid/dumb or intelligent. Just a big wind bag of bluff and bluster.

I'm not going to claim he is "very intelligent", but if we're comparing him to Biden...

(Hopefully we don't have to bring Vice President Kamala Harris into this discussion)

I'm not sure of anyone who regards him as intelligent, not even some of his supporters. But this is politics, and you don't need intelligence to be effective. Sometimes it's even a detriment depending on who you're trying to get to vote for you.

Funny when less than intelligent people try to determine the intelligence of another...

But.... what the heck..... it steers the discussion away from what a disaster Biden has been, is now, and will be so we don't talk about him... the left "look over here" deflection strategy...

Yes, the left constantly complains when people note that Biden is mentally impaired based upon ample evidence. The president’s re-election committee is now limiting the length of his campaign speeches and restricting his off the cuff comments. Really? We are electing the President of the United States, not the local dog warden.

Yet left has judged the Trump is “stupid” based in the fact that they don’t like his political positions. Trump can speak for an hour without notes. Biden can barely put a coherent sentence together.

Its not just the left, and it has nothing to do with policies. He is considered dumb by the world audience. Only his hard core apologists think he is smart, and the "BUT BIDEN" line is only a deflection.

It is impossible to imagine Trump engaging in an erudite conversation regarding literature, art, music, history, etc.

Intellectually, he is a very limited individual who desperately tries to hide his widespread ignorance by a laughably embarrassing insistence that he is a stable universal genius.

His positions have ZERO to do with my opinion that he is not very intelligent.

His rambling speeches where he talks about the Continental Army in the Revolutionary War capturing airports.
    Calling "Second Corinthians" "Two Corinthians"
    His entire handling of COVID
Staring into the sun during an eclipse
When he gave a speech to victims of a mass shooting and one of the notes on his "cheat sheet" was "I hear you". He had to be reminded to say that.
When he basically dry humped an American Flag
When he pronounced "Yosemite" as "YO-semite"
When he saluted a North Korean General
When he said that windmills cause cancer
When he said he met with the President of the Virgin Islands (HE was the President of the Virgin Islands)
When he said we needed to "rake forests" to prevent forest fires

I could go on and on and on and on

He can barely speak, period, in any kind of coherent manner

It is actually quite amusing that "the right" tries to portray the President as a mentally decrepit criminal mastermind who has continually outwitted every intrepid Republican sleuth for years and years.
