Exactly! Does Billy Graham walk around saying that people who don't believe are just stupid or not yet enlightened? No! He does not belittle them for their beliefs. Stephen Hawking is a scientist who believes that science and God cannot co-exist. I would say that is truly short sighted! Maybe even a little fearful!

Actually, not a lot of physicists really buy that.

The 3 spatial dimensions and time did not exist within the singularity of the Big Bang, true. But that singularity was, by definition, both dimensionless and durationless.

It had zero height, width, length and duration.

Since it was durationless, there never was a "time" when time did not exist. Any time that preceded the Big Bang would flow uninterrupted and seamlessly across the cusp of the singularity.... juts as a line passes uninterrupted and seamlessly through any point along it.

You are confusing Stephen Hawking with Richard Dawkins.

Stephen Hawking is a theoretical physicist and cosmologist, not a biologist.

    Now your just playing games.

Your "evidence" is my evidence. There wouldnt have been a big bang nor any universe at all without God.

    You simply wouldnt even exist.

Actually, no. I am making a point.

That wasn't the question. Please try to keep up.

We are discussing two candidates here for the entity that existed before the Big Bang. I have proposed the universe. You have proposed God. We are trying to compare the evidence for each.

I have directed you to, and you have admitted that there is, evidence for the existence of a universe.

It is your turn to show us comparable evidence for the existence of a God.

    We are still waiting.

That's your problem though... you can't reason to that conclusion from evidence.

Because to this point, you have presented no evidence of God.

    Youre not making any sense.

The entire universe is proof of God.

The Big Bang is proof of God.

The only thing Steven Hawking is good at is proving himself wrong.

What you're telling us is zero proof of anything. 'Because I saw it in a book' is not proof, just fairytales. Oh, and the post you mention made eminent sense. Would you like some help with the translation into Fisher-Price terms?

I think the only reason people think Hawkings is smart is because he talks threw a computer. In an infinite universe, if something can exist, it does exist. One man's hell, is another man's heaven.

Smarter people than both of us have disagreed with you.

That's a bald assertion. I have no good reason to believe it is true, and as a result have been asking you for evidence that it is.

    Please... provide some.

Or it is proof of a universe.

We are trying to figure out here which of those two explanations has the most evidence. You have admitted that I have some.

    Where's yours?

Oh... he's pretty good at one or two other things. Math for example.

I think they think he's smart because he can spell through a computer.

Well you sure need someone. Making assertions such as you have done requires more back-up than 'look at that, there's proof of god'.

The more you know, the more you realize you know nothing. – Socrates

If you cant look at Steven Hawking for 2 seconds and realize why he doesnt believe in God, Then nothing I say to you will ever make sense.

Could you give a list of some of these physicists?
If I understand you correctly, you are assuming a universe in which the "our" singularity existed. However, with no evidence of any other universe, an assumption of a singularity within another universe is, like brane theory, speculation.

    Sean Carroll, CalTech
    Roger Penrose, Oxford University
    Martin Bojowald, Penn State
Alejandro Corichi, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México
Parampreet Singh, Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, Ontario, Canada
Paul Steinhardt, Albert Einstein Professor in Science and Director of the Princeton Center for Theoretical Science
    Ernest Sternglass. U. of Pittsburgh

    Want more?

It's not just assumption or speculation.

It is the only actual conclusion that can be reached if the laws of conservation and causality are true. Since these laws are empirically derived, there is no speculation required to assert that something existed before the Big Bang. Our discussion here is regarding what that something might have been.

Of the potential candidates, "a universe" is the one in the superior evidentiary position.

If you know nothing, you must already be dead. - Wong Kim Ark

So... have you completely given up on providing comparable evidence for the existence of God?

    Try me.

Question for those who say that there is no God, what if you are wrong? Not have proof of existence does not mean it does not exist, it means you have no proof.

OOPS!!!!! You are correct... I have seen the Stephen Hawkings thing about heaven and read some of his work - he doesn't state that there isn't a Heaven, but it is as believable as aliens and other things that have no proof of being. Since there is no proof, he assumes death is an empty cold place...
