You have no reason to believe otherwise; except inherent paranoia and one-ups-manship. Nothing else.

Yeah, they are all just making it up LOL

How often have protests been forbidden in the US? Source? I provided mine.

...at least the ones who watch what they say about the government....

I dont think you really understand what the "free" part of "free speech" means.

    It's wikipedia.

Or all of them; blogs are shut down, blogs are made, the point is speech is more widespread in China.

LOL, you managed to find ONE isolated example. Not exactly a trend eh?

And if you read your source, it does not say he cant protest...just that he cant harass someone else. If he wanted to protest across town, he could.

He is also not protesting the government, but other private individuals.

Finally it even says he can STILL protest as long as he pays for additional cops to keep violence down.

    http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/04/20/national/main20055866.shtml

Your example fails on multiple levels.

I just googled "protest permit denied" and clicked the first one.

He can't protest because he doesn't have a permit.

So it's freedom if he has to pay to protest? I see.

    His permit technically wasnt denied.

Yeah, if he wants to do it in that specific spot. Because of the additional security that is required. He can protest in his front yard or at his own church for free. The government will not stop him.

Media can also cover the event (even Chinese media) and the government will not censor them.

So the government can dictate where and on what terms a protest takes place? Then you support China's decisions? Okay.

    This sounds so (*)(*)(*)(*) retarded,

You make the Chinese sound like a new enemy that you Americans always need.

Not arbitrarily, no. And citizens have recourse if their permits are denied. And citizens are not targeted for retaliation merely because they want to protest.

That does not happen in the US. It is not against the law to be critical of the government here.

In fact, the government can be sued if they infringe on our right to free speech. And they have been sued successfully many times.

What recourse do those Chinese citizens have?

This isnt new. it has been going on for a long time.

Would we be selling Taiwan weapons if we did not consider the PRC to be an adversary?

    Aren't you American?

That being said, China isn't really a military worry. They're much more crafty in the market.

They are pragmatists. They will not get involved in an expensive war and put themselves at risk unless they absolutely have to in defense. So they wont start a war.

And the US will not attack another nuclear armed nation. Unless it or one of its allies is threatened with attack or invasion. Yes, Taiwan would probably fall into that category.

I'm sorry but an army of 200 million is impractical. A militia maybe but an army? no.

This is the very reason we have nuclear weapons: not the Russians, but the 3,000,000,000 Chinese . . .

Sure, if you go by sheer number of people. Actual fighting power? That's a different story. Most of China's Air Force consists of obsolete aircraft and I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that your "second largest navy" in the world doesn't account for tonnage which is usually the benchmark when comparing navies. The Russian Navy would obliterate the Chinese Navy, regardless of how many Chinese sailors you can fit on a speed boat. China's military is defensive, they have very little offensive reach capabilities.

I wouldn't call the Sukhoi 27 and 30 obsolete by a long margin.

China will have to spend estimated $40 Trillion to $50 Trillion if China wants to build modernised and strong army of 300 million to 400 million men so that China can rule this world.

Why the heck would China waste that kind of money for a cause that wastes that many people of ideal working age?

They don't even have to do that. All they really have to do is continue buying the debt and resources of various countries.

They've gotten very good at the capitalism game. As someone else here already said, "We play checkers while they play chess."

And I am sure it is very impressive....if you aren't the US or Russia.

    Oh Pul-leeze.

No aircraft carriers. Practically no transports. Most of the attack ships it does have are decades behind most of Europe, nevermind the US or Russia.

This is a case of size not necessarily mattering.

The main thing that would send any two super powers to war will boil down to the lack of or cost of oil. That's about it. IMO

We have a larger domestic supply than they do.
