When will Americans start to be revolting?

To exclude the obvious, this is not about how Americans appear to others.

It is about how much more nonsense sensible Americans can take from their politicians.

I imagine there are some sensible Americans who clearly see their country going down the dunny. But, as the phrase goes, this cannot be independently confirmed.

It is my opinion Americans are faced with an opportunity to fix the rubbish they have tolerated for a hundred years. Corporatism, capture of political process, judicial bias, income and wealth disparity, political failure, non-sensical economic policy, militarism and anything I've forgotten.

Will they one day say "enough is enough"?

And be revolting? If so, how will they do this?

I don't know if it will ever end. Our country is full of imperfect people and politicians. Mistakes will continue to be made. My hope is that we don't just keep repeating ourselves over and over expecting a different result. As Albert Einstein said, that is insanity :p.

Lol. America is still way too wealthy to revolt. We have tons of rich people who will not tolerate revolting and then we have tons of crazy poor people. Luckily the poor people do not have the means necessary to take over the establishment. Too much money in this country and too much power... no way they are going to relinquish it over tons of hillbilly militias with armadillo helmets.

Another Waco or a few Ruby Ridges won't do it ,it may take a combination of overzealous moves by Democrat Gungrabbers and a Stolen Election in 12 ...

So you not see that the growing army of unemployed (9.2% is the official figure but the real figure is more likely 15%), hundreds of thousands being ejected from homes they can't pay for, reductions in living standards for most of the middle class, the collapse of 401Ks, and more wealth for the rich will yet create the conditions for reform?

Perhaps the new recession upon which you are embarking yourselves might persuade you to think differently?

Since when has 9.2% unemployment been the back breaker for an economy. I will never understand how people think 9.2% unemployment is the worst an economy can get. For the amount of wealth we lost, that is actually pretty good. It's not like this country hasn't seen 15%, 25% unemployment in the past. And in the past the unemployed didn't get as much benefits if any benefits.

So we will be fine. All this revolting stuff is just building up on the internet. Once you step out of the house life becomes back to reality.

Oh just be quiet. Even if we fall down a few notches on the world stage we will never be as insignificant as New Zealand. We won't revolt because we have room for some decline..

America even at it's worst lately is still far too comfortable to revolt. There's zero change. Absolutely zero. Anyone to suggest otherwise is simply not intelligent. :p

Why would we revolt? When has tearing down the system ever worked? The people who try to "help" change society usually just make things worse.

That's probably true. You have too fat a cushion. You can tolerate more stupidity from your politicans, bankers, religious loons, and the rest.

    For the moment.

    Did I mention the debt?

Not reductions, many people living paycheck to paycheck because they are living beyond their means are coming to the realization that you can't live your whole life with those economic plans.

The last time (and one of the only two times) there was any civil disobedience in NZ was in 1982. And that was in support of principle. The principle being that most of us were aghast at what a foreign government (the South African) was doing to its people. We had a lever - rugby football - to express our displeasure and we used it to upset the itinerary of an all-white South African rugby team. Blood in the streets. For a principle.

In a country where Jersey Shore is a popular TV show and Charlie Sheen made millions for each (*)(*)(*)(*)ty episode of Two and a Half men, is there really any intellectual will to revolt?

    Nope.

It is too late for revolt. The law has passed. The Military will be visiting you soon. You will be taken. You will be interrogated. You will be held in detention. You will be isolated. If you renounce your dissent, perhaps you will be freed. If not, you will dissappear.

It is beginning. It has already been in progress. Will it succeed? Judging from the absence of outcry on this forum, it probably will. As you are reading about what the correct way to pea is, your 1st and 4th amendment will be replaced by indoctrination thru interrogation, forceably if necessary. Naomi Wolfe has now submitted after only one day in jail. Soon all of America will submit., as they have neither the will nor the intelligence to stand together against tyranny.

What is interesting is how the gun totters in America (militias etc.) talked so tough, and yet when tens of millions of their fellow Americans began losing their homes and being thrown out: they changed their tune, and not a single shot was fired. fox news sang a song to make them feel better about how those who lost homes were socialists and lazy people.
