When I recite it I either omit "under God" or change it to "under Maynard". That discriminatory bit needs to be removed and the pledge returned to what it was before the McCarthy era. That is a very good point, that never crossed my mind.
I don't say it. I don't need to remind myself that I'm an American and I don't need to prove anything to people like you. No American does. Or at least no American should. Execute me.
Well you should know, shouldn't you. Wasn't it you guys who not all that long ago decided that this union sh*t just wasn't working out for you and you walked out? Formed a second country where there had once been one? Hell you're still talking about it. The blimp who governs Texas brought it up not more than a year or so ago. So tell me, Dixie, when did you folks down there get so on board with this indivisible stuff?
I would say if there is one thing that's going to destroy our nation it would be the religious right eliminating the separation of church and state. Theocracies don't usually last very long.
Bah, both of you can go and (*)(*)(*)(*) yourselves. Two xenophobes with different prejudices. More same than different. You two should get married and be done with it, just leave everyone else out of your blind hatred.
Who invited you to the party? How have we included you or anyone else in this? Dixie and i are doing just fine. If you don't like it put us on ignore.
Here's an idea: If you don't like seeing other people's responses to your opinion THEN DON'T POST YOUR OPINION ON A PUBLIC INTERNET FORUM.
You misunderstand. And there is certainly no need to shout. Your opinion on this or anything else is a matter of indifference to me. Post away. But you seemed upset by this discussion that Dixie and I are having and I was just suggesting something I thought might help.
Well just put your little head to rest about it. You may resume your previous bigoted comments. I'm sure Dixie will oblige you with some of his own.
Yes indeed, you're holding up your end for all to see. I'm sure most people wish you'd quit waving it around like you do, but whatever floats your boat...
This is really bothering you, isn't it tomfoo13ry? Okay, here's the deal. I'm having a good time. In spite of Dixie's "views" I kinda like him. He's like that cranky bigoted uncle who drops conversation stoppers all through Thanksgiving dinner mainly because he can. I enjoy bantering with him on his own terms and would probably enjoy having a julep or two with him although I doubt that he'd ever take me up on that. That being said, I am under no illusions about what he stands for. But know your enemy, right?
I've hated the pledge of allegiance for a long time now, I've refused to say it for years and I've never had a problem. The entire idea makes me sick when I think about it, that most students begin every day in what's supposed to be a day of IMPARTIAL EDUCATION by swearing their undying loyalty to a symbol of other people's wants. I hate it, and it's almost mystical. Good for you for not saying something you didn't believe in!
Like I said, the two of you are more alike than different. You make a cute couple. It's like Archie Bunker and George Jefferson in a homosexual relationship. I wish you both all the best.
