It's a waste of time, it's a stupid tradition, and should be banned so that people don't waste time and money on nice clothes.

Dressing up should be banned? I don't know about that. What about freedom of expression?

Well in the real world it isn't. You don't need to wear a suit to a job interview. A one color button down with some khakis is more than acceptable and its pretty cheap. I have a few good "dress" shirts and pants for my two jobs. During the school year, I just wear shorts or my workshorts with my sweats on top. I'm just going to school, I don't need a "suit" until I start my career. I do happen to own about two - three suits for a special reason arise.(Formal Dinners/High end Career Interviews./ Internships with Politicians.)(I'm a very busy person overall.)

I don't really spend a lot of money on clothes. Most of my clothes are either shorts and t-shirts(I moved from Illinois to California) hence I got rid of majority of my pants. I kept like maybe 3-5 pairs of pants. But then again I'm a man hence I don't really go clothes shopping if I really need to.

Jonsa nails it. Consumerism is one of the main reason now we just work at jobs we hate and we go nowhere in reality with our human self.

Watching television is a waste of time and money.

Playing video games is a waste of time and money.

I'm sure you engage in a lot of activities that waste both time and money. That can't be your real reason for disliking the tradition of dressing up.

Dress should not affect a job. You should not be looked down upon because you didn't dress up for a certain occasion. What about freedom of expression if you don't want to dress up?

Outward appearance is one of the few factors a person has to determine as much as possible about others. If a person puts no effort into their appearance at a job interview, why would an employer believe they will put any effort into the job if they get it?

Consider it this way, you have two applicants. Both have similar work history and apparent skill. Why would an employer hire the one who put no effort into preparing to interview instead of the one who clearly put effort into getting ready?

    You are very corect, hiimjered.

Most new jobs today, (see chart below) require you to work with the public. If you speak well and have a good appearence, you will make a good impression and get frequent raises.

What does speaking well have to do with good appearance?

When you work with the public, it is important to speak well (use proper English and avoid double negatives) exercise good personal hygiene and have a good outward appearance.

Do I really have to explain these things to you?
