We lost nothing, this thing was as I and everybody here figured,,,nothing. We are use to these Tropical burps here on the Island,,Bloomberg is a show off idiot..
I love watching the media trying to cover his skinny ass,,,hahahahah,,,what a Joke...Hey perhaps he will raise the price of cigarettes again to make up for what he spent, this way he can lose another Billion in tax's and have a double waste of our money....
Oh I did lose a two foot branch, not as big as the one the dog ripped off a Bush the other day though...Perhaps Bloomberg would suggest I quarantine him, as he is definitely a danger to society...
NY once known as one of the toughest cities around is being turned into a wimpy Progressive, wasteful, nightmare...[IMG]

They actually put more people in danger telling them to leave and scaring the crap out of the inexperienced and Liberal wusses..I truly believe they just wanted this as some sort of exercise of power,,my God they can not be that stupid.
They had to realize this was going to be a zipppp, if not then we are Governed by complete idiots...

I live one quarter mile from the Ocean, he have a trickle going down the block,,,,nothing! and that was at high tide.
The stuff they will show you are the areas that always get flooded, just by a normal heavy rainfall..This thing was a complete Bust....Our lights never even flickered.

I would pay some serious money, to see the TEA Party chapters in NY show up at the next Bloomberg press conference...and pop open all their umbrellas on cue on a sunny day.

Hmmm. A fittng slogan for the event?

"You are supposed to save for a rainy day, not terrify us of it."

You are exactly right,,Bloomberg caused more fear and danger by all his grandstanding and meddling,,the Media is the worst pumping this stuff up and scaring people,,my wife was worried sick, and for what? I tried to explain to her, use your head,,,THINK!!,,this thing is losing power and fast as it travels up the coast,,it's a nothing. It was just not strong enough, and that was painfully obvious...I swear I wanted to throw a chair at the TV screen. People were driving all over in panic, the stores were stripped bare..
There will be looting you will not hear about here in NY,,,bet on it! They will never be honest about it for fear the next time they call for a evacuation nobody will leave..
This was nothing more than a dangerous diversion from our real problems...

HAHAHAHAH,,,What a great idea that is,,you should send it to their head quarters...
This was nothing more than an advertisement..''YOUR GOVERNMENT AT WORK'',,what a pile of crap, what a waste.
The storm was not the problem,,,THEY WERE!

I think the "serious flooding" will be the typical heavy-rain stuff. Certain towns in NJ come to mind. But they flood every 5-10 years.

Like I said,,in areas where it always floods of course, but those people that live there already know that,,follow? Those people will flood at just a few inches..nothing new at all. Margot look at the winds, very predictable. It was just not a powerful storm.
I think the only reason they could make a big deal out of it was it's size, normally these storms are not that big so many people do not get effected, this time many more people would be, even though it posed no great threat...

Yup,,to us water front people these small storms are a God send, because they clean out any old and weak stuff, we call them clean up storms, not dangerous just part of natures normal cycle. If it were not for these small storms than the big storms would be real dangerous,,everything would come down at once.

Now if a Nor easter comes this winter we will be safer...:)....Natures Broom...

This was simply knee-jerk reaction on the part of state officials for fear of another Katrina - when police murdered people, and G Bush, Junior's administration did nothing for the negro people affected by Katrina. It is simply a vote-buying gimmic encouraged further by FOX News, all the news civerage is better than sex for the **********s.

Well I HAVE TO ADMIT,,,the phony news coverage was at least good for a laugh, better than listening to another one of his speech's...
Although they can be packed with humor as well, AND FICTION!!

Come to think of it, there really is not that much difference....

Are you kidding? Lots of bottom-feeders have made a welfare-career out of Katrina. All they had to do was refuse to do anything to prepare for the arrival of the hurricane, refuse to get out of harm's way, and then afterwards, stick their hands out to the government... and the government's been giving them their handouts ever since. That was six years ago, and you can bet those leeches will be sucking on the government teat the rest of their worthless lives....

"Vote-buying"?! You really need to look at the true masters of this craft: the Socialists of the Obama regime!

flooding but if you were thelling the truth about ever living in Charleston you know that every time it we have a summer thunderstorm the downtown area roads flood. Sorry to break your liberal heart but otehr than a lot of rain , Barrack Obama, Napolitano, and MSNBC were just feeding you crap sandwichs and telling you it was peanut butter.

Yep... three inches of hard rain at high tide and Chas is a mess.

I really don't resent the newscasters for caution.. Hurricanes can take a turn pretty quickly.

caution is fine, scare mongering and misrepresenting the actual wind speed is unforgivable. Next time it might be a real emergency situation and people will say "ah hell remember Irena" and die because of it BTW dunno when you lived here but a good afternoon thunderstorm now and the crosstown is impassable. My brother inlaw was living in one of his apartments on Smith Stereet while renovating his main house last year and ended up parking 2 blocks from the apartment and wading home a average of 2 days a week during the summer rainy season

I know how it is.. I lived in Charleston a long time and had a flat on Vendue for several years.

Every hurricane should be taken seriously.

I'd be curious to see a cost analysis done on this.

Extra police. Overtime police. National guard. Emergency crews around the clock for days on end. Business closings. Lost wages to employees. Retail sales erased on everything except "crisis" items, and hotels. Jacked up insurance for hurricane protection, and fender benders as millions "flee" in panic in wind and rainy conditions on the roadways.

Was there a suggestion Wall Street not open?

As late as last night, the Weather Channel was revising their forecast and saying New York would get only tropical storm force winds. They still led off the story, though, with the warning that Irene presented an "extraordinary danger" to the Northeast. Having rode out several 'real' hurricanes, my wife and I had a good laugh out of that.

Just wait a few days for the ridiculous claims for damages that are bound to be made.

Yup Pure Hype.Like Global Warming and Gore's - An Inconvenient Truth -.
Which means when there's real cause for alarm, the alarm bell will be
worn out from too many inconsequential uses.
